• The evolution of fixed networks towards mobility is a natural extension of
operational capability yielding:
– Expanded coverage
– Increased time of operation
– Seamless communications

• This has long been proven in terrestrial as well as some satellite
networks, primarily for narrowband applications (Inmarsat)
