Kharkiv is located in northeastern Ukraine, about 25 miles from the Russian border. It is Ukraine's second largest city with over 1.4 million residents. Kharkiv has experienced heavy shelling and missile attacks since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24th, 2022, resulting in significant damage to civilian infrastructure and loss of life.
