12. GROWTH CENTER: INFRASTRUCTURE IN NEWS
Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), is a proposed 22 km,
freeway grade road bridge The bridge will begin in Sewri,
South Mumbai and cross Thane Creek north of Elephanta
Island and will terminate at Chirle village, near Nhava Sheva.
Navi Mumbai International Airport., strengthening connectivity,
boosting economic growth and upgrading the location.
13. GROWTH CENTER: INFRASTRUCTURE IN NEWS
Virar-Alibaug Multi Modal Corridor
A Multi Modal Corridor is a single corridor having a length of 126 km, which incorporates multiple modes, such as, buses,
BRT, metro rail, cars and non-motorised track. Moreover, utilities such as water supply lines, sewer lines and gas lines are
present in the same Right of Way. The width of the corridor would be about 99M.
It will connect NH-8, Bhiwandi bypass, NH-3, NH-4 and NH-4B, Mumbai-Pune Expressway, NH-17, etc. Out of this 126 km
corridor, 79 km long Virar (Navghar) to Chirner (JNPT)
14. The first phase of the work on Panvel railway terminus will be ready by
2019, according to sources in the Central Railway (CR).
Phase 1 includes construction of three new platforms, renovation of the
existing ones, development of foot overbridges (FOBs) to connect all
platforms, among others.
So far, around 30% of the work has been completed, a senior official said.
“We have decided to develop platform numbers 10, 11 and 12 in the first
phase. The existing platforms will also have to be renovated and heightened
to make it a proper terminus.
Once completed, the upcoming railway terminus will be a three-storey
building with all required amenities such as VIP lounge, administrative
blocks, subways, escalators among others.
Travel from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
Terminus (CSMT) to Panvel is all set to get
faster by 15 minutes, as the CR will soon
increase the speed of local trains between
Mankhurd and Panvel to 105kmph from the
current 80 kmph.Currently, it takes about
one hour and 20 minutes to reach CSMT
from Panvel.
GROWTH CENTER : STATION IN NEWS : PANVEL
The Panvel-Karjat double line project will provide alternative route between Karjat and CST
via Panvel. It will be shorter by 23 km than the existing route via Kalyan and will reduce slow
trains' travel time between CST and Karjat by around 40 minutes.
