The greater the number of the
unemployed or the longer they are
without work the more money the
government has to shell out.

power of an unemployed person and

and they would rather save than
spend their money, which in turn
affects the economy adversely.

insecurity about their own work may affect
the spending power of the working people as

before thus affecting the economy and also

20. Solutions
Fiscal Policy:
The government will need to pursue expansionary
fiscal policy; this involves cutting taxes and
increasing government spending. Lower taxes
increase disposable income and therefore help to
increase consumption, leading to higher aggregate
demand.
21. Solutions
Monetary Policy :
Monetary policy would involve cutting interest
rates. Lower rates decrease the cost of
borrowing and encourage people to spend and
invest. This increases Aggregate Demand and
should also help to increase GDP and reduce
demand deficient unemployment.
22. Conclusion
Unemployment is a very serious
problem and this can be controlled
up to a certain limit. The present
educational system can be modified
and technical based education
should be given. The population
growth must be slowed down.
Government should encourage the
self-employed people and give aid to
them.
