How about libraries and librarians?Well most librarian are very service oriented and the service the library offers, - mainly to be able to access information at the point of need (for example on bus)– is ideal for the mobile world[next slide – library examples]http://www.flickr.com/photos/ellf/3891166649/

Lehman College Library Information Literacy:The mission of our Information Literacy program can be summed up in two words: Student EmpowermentWe seek to teach students to teach themselves and guide students in the process of learning how to learnConcept of information literacy and adjusted it for the new learner….Critical thinkingEvaluating information etc…This sounds all great, but for quite some time we have been thinking something is missing here….Allie is an avid Android user and I am an iPhone user, we also noticed and we both noticed more and more students asking us about good apps, or if an book is also available on the phoneAdding onto this I was asked to write a column on Mobile website and apps for nursing faculty and students – and boy was this an eye opener – I have to admit it, I had no idea about all the apps and mobile website available to support nursing students and facultySo that’s how we came up with a new term [ move to next slide]

Simply said, I want my students to know that they can search certain databases on the phone, that some apps give reliable, authoritative information – become a smart searcher – make sure that the phone is more than just a toy to text/play onSo we decided to not only talk about it but [next slide]
