Introduction Student Page Title Introduction Task Process Evaluation Conclusion Credits [ Teacher Page ] Welcome to Blast to the Past Travel Agency, as our newest travel agent you will be booking vacations to the past. A large group wants to travel to the 1960s and we have never had anyone travel to this time period before. Your job will be to put together a travel brochure of what they will need and information they will need to know about the time period. This is crucial for these travelers to have this information so they do not disrupt the time-space continuum. Process Continued Example Brochure Example Brochure Inside Websites

Once you have done this, you will need to create a brochure using Microsoft Publisher that is easy and fun to read (use pictures and colors but make sure the pictures are not copyrighted). Remember, this is for a client of the Blast to the Past Travel Agency. Then you will present your brochures to the class (you will have one minute to highlight 2 key facts on your brochure; one pop culture fact and one historical). Introduction (Teacher) [ Student Page ] Title Introduction Learners Standards Process Resources Credits Teacher Page Evaluation Teacher Script Conclusion This lesson was started for a technologies course for teachers at Colorado State University. The idea was to design a Webquest on something we enjoy. The lesson is trying to get students to have fun while learning about history. The idea is to get students reading and writing about history while learning about past events. The 1960s was important to America’s history, it is when Women and Black people gained the right to vote, Vietnam happened, and art, music, and fashion had a revolution. Students should be aware of our history that influenced today and having them do an activity that is fun and gets them involved will help them to learn. Process Continued
Learners (Teacher) [ Student Page ] Title Introduction Learners Standards Process Resources Credits Teacher Page Evaluation Teacher Script Conclusion The lesson was designed for a 7 th grade language arts class. While this is mostly a history lesson since it is on the 1960s, the students are being graded on their writing on the brochure. It would be a great lesson to do with both history and language arts. This could be adapted to an older audience as well to help them learn about American history. The rubric would have to be adapted to grade the students on history more than language arts if needed. Prepare a quick presentation on two key facts on your brochure and why you have put those on there. This is just for a 7 th grade English class. Two 50 minute class periods would be needed to complete this project. The first day would be for the students to gather information for the brochure and on the second day they would make the brochure and quickly present it. This project could be done in collaboration with a Social Studies class since it is over a time period. This project could be done by a teacher with simple knowledge of technology, they would just need to know how to use the internet and Microsoft Publisher. Process Continued
Resources (Teacher) [ Student Page ] Title Introduction Learners Standards Process Resources Credits Teacher Page For the students to be able to do this lesson they would need to be able to access the internet and use it. They would also need the program Microsoft Publisher to create the brochure. One of the web sites has videos on the 1960’s so speakers or headphones to listen to those would be needed and a video player program such as Window’s Media Player would be useful. One teacher would be able to facilitate this lesson, but that depends of the class size. They would just need to make sure that the students are on task and working on what they are supposed to be doing. Evaluation Teacher Script Conclusion Process Continued
