Skanwear Clothing Co - Aug 2015 - Sept 2016 - Marketing Manager
The last 13 months I have worked as a Marketing Manager for Skanwear in Doncaster helping them transition from selling
a wide range of PPE to a diverse base of customers, to specialising in supplying protective clothing for electrical engineers
worldwide, to protect them from the devastating effects of Arc Flash blasts.This is an incredibly niche market but if we
were to reach out globally then it would be viable.
My approach was to market Skanwear as the global authority on the protection, awareness and education regarding this
little known about event and to offer our STRATA®
brand of clothing as the best protection recommended by us.To achieve
this I created the ‘Skanwear Academy’ an area of rich content marketing, webinars, white papers, case studies videos and
facts. I initiated, designed and produced our newsletter ‘SPARX’ to inform about our company and activities along with
making sizing guide videos and working closely with the Electrical Industries Charity, raising money for them (£563) by
getting our ‘Bright Sparx’ team completing the Mudnificent7 challenge and making a video to mark the event.
Combining this content with our international exhibition and conference presentations, intense digital marketing output
of: weekly ‘product of the week’ e-shots, twitter, facebook and LinkedIn posts and detailed SEO development, our ranking
on organic Google search went from not having a ranking on the first 8 pages, to being on the first page for ‘Arc Flash:
clothing, PPE, myths and facts, protection & education in under 6 months.
Business: won: • ABB Germany • GE contract win across Europe, Middle East and Aisia • ABB Poland • Rolls-Royce
globally • Granite in USA,Asia and Australia • ABB Poland • Balfour Beaty B156 project - and in negotiation: Welsh

- Developing an integrated marketing strategy in line with new company objectives.
- Co-ordinating marketing campaigns with sales activities/events developing leads and creating buyer touchpoints at
all five stages of the buyer purchasing decision-making process.
- Creation and publication of a rich content marketing programme to build trust, engage, educate and promote awareness of the dangers
of Arc Flash and establish the company as authorities in the industry. producing videos, webinars, white papers and case studies, catalogue
and newsletter production, multi-language sales ppt presentations for sales teams to present our ‘solution’ internationally at exhibitions,
conferences and meetings worldwide.
- Managing and improving lead generation campaigns, through all digital and printed channels, starting social media from scratch and
now with 220 twitter followers and with 454 Facebook likes and 197 LinkedIn followers through developing a digital and social media
structured weekly programme to support all marketing activity.
- Monitoring and reporting on effectiveness of marketing communications and tracking KPI’s using Klipfolio dashboards.
- Overall responsibility for marketing budget, brand management and corporate identity working closely with design agencies and web
developers.
- Website and SEO development to produce a more engaging customer experience and to build from the ground up from having no SEO
(just PPC) when I joined to being on the first page of organic Google search for all our top 5 key searches.
- Maintain effective internal communications to ensure that all relevant company functions are kept informed of marketing objectives.
