SOCIOLOGY
Sociology
 Latin Socius –social or being with others.
 And the Greek logos –study
 Therefore the term “sociology” basically means the study of” being social beings”
.
 It studies;
 Human behavior in groups
 Social structure and social phenomena
 Different forms of human interrelations
Need to study sociology
 Sociology is the systematic study of society.
Sociology encompasses all the elements of society
i.e. social relation, social stratification, social
interaction, culture .Scope of sociology is wide and it
ranges from the analysis of interaction of two
anonymous persons to the global social interaction
in global institution.
The sociological foundation
 Issues from society including groups and institutions in the cultural and their
contribution to education.
 Refers to issues from society that have influence on curriculum.
 There are many aspects of the society that need consideration on the making of
curriculum. These include;
 Changes occurring in societal structures;
 Transmission of cultural
 Social problems as issues for curriculum
 Economic problems
 Political awareness for students
Educational sociology
 Educational sociology is the branch of study that deals with
the various methods providing better education to society
through an in depth research of our culture and society.
Educational sociology is a subject that has to take both the
sociologists and the educationists into consideration. This
makes the subject an invaluable asset to all the students and
researchers of social sciences, particularly sociology and
education.
Three situations of social interactions
 Person to person
Person to group
Group to group
Curriculum based on sociology
 Based on conditions , problems and need of society.
 An agent for transmission of basic values of culture.
 Prepare the child for global /world society.
 Flexible and changeable for the effective realization of socially determined
obtained .
 Leads to the development of genuine,” we feeling” i.e.; that a group having the
spirit of social interaction.
Objectives
 DEVELOPMENT OF SOCIAL FEELINGS AND QUALITIES.
 DEVELOPMENT OF SOCIALLY EFFICIENT INDIVIDUAL.
 IMPROVEMENT OF VACATIONAL EFFICIENCY
 USE OF LEASURE TIME AND DEVELOPMENT OF HEALTHY RECREATIONAL PURSUITS.
 TRANSMISSION OF SOCIAL HERTAGE.
 DIFFUSION OF MORE AND MORE KNOWLEDGE.
 DEVELOPMENT OF CONSTRUCTIVE AND CREATIVE OUTLOOKS OF INDIVIDUALS.
 EDUCATION FOR SOCIAL SERVICE And SOCIAL EFFCIENCY, EMOTIONAL
INTEGRATION, NATIONAL UNITY AND PATRIOTISM

Role Of Teacher
 Destiny of the nature is shaped in the classroom by the
teacher.
 Be exposed to the concept of freedom, dignity of the
individual rights and duties so as to transmit it to the
next or younger generation.
 Expected to possess right attitude of the behavior.
 Remain above casteism and regionalism.
Role of the School
 Reflect and epitomize the larger society outside the wall
 Balance ,purify and simplify the activities of the society in its environment
Discipline
 should comes through the participation in group activities and social services

  • 2. Sociology  Latin Socius –social or being with others.  And the Greek logos –study  Therefore the term “sociology” basically means the study of” being social beings” .  It studies;  Human behavior in groups  Social structure and social phenomena  Different forms of human interrelations
  • 3. Need to study sociology  Sociology is the systematic study of society. Sociology encompasses all the elements of society i.e. social relation, social stratification, social interaction, culture .Scope of sociology is wide and it ranges from the analysis of interaction of two anonymous persons to the global social interaction in global institution.

The sociological foundation  Issues from society including groups and institutions in the cultural and their contribution to education.  Refers to issues from society that have influence on curriculum.  There are many aspects of the society that need consideration on the making of curriculum. These include;  Changes occurring in societal structures;  Transmission of cultural  Social problems as issues for curriculum  Economic problems  Political awareness for students

Educational sociology  Educational sociology is the branch of study that deals with the various methods providing better education to society through an in depth research of our culture and society. Educational sociology is a subject that has to take both the sociologists and the educationists into consideration. This makes the subject an invaluable asset to all the students and researchers of social sciences, particularly sociology and education.
