4. Background:
The Pakistan movement is as old as the history of
Muslims in the sub-Continent .This is because
Pakistan is created on the basis of two-nation
theory.
23rd march in 1940 the 27th annual meeting of
Muslims league, a resolution was passed about the
creation of Pakistan.
5. Objectives of Resolution:
The state shall exercise its power and authority
through the choose representatives of the people.
The principle of democracy, freedom, equality,
tolerance and social justice as pronounced by
Islam, shall be fully observed
Muslims shall be enabled to order their lives in the
individual and collective sphere in accordance with
teaching of Islam ad set out in Holy Quran and
Sunni.
6. Adequate provision shall be made for the
minorities to freely exercise their religion
and develop their cultures.
Pakistan shall be a federation.
Fundamental right shall guarantee.
Judiciary shall be independent
7. Events of Resolution
1. Government’s resistance in holding the
Meeting of Muslims League
The 27th annual meeting of Muslims league was to
be held in Manta Park Lahore in 22nd march 1940.
Government of Punjab on the advice of British
rulers and the agriculture department demanded
eight thousand rupees as the rent of the park and
tried to postpone the meeting of Muslims league
.Butt their efforts were unsuccessful in the end.

Raj Gopal Acharia said:
“The step of Mr. Jinnah is like that two brothers
Have a fight on some cow and they cut it and
Divide it.”
Gandhi bitterly criticized the resolution and called it a severe
moral sin.
14. Historical Importance
Lahore Resolution
1. Setting of Goals:
• The Approval of the Pakistan Resolution set a target for the
Indian. Muslims which was creation of Pakistan.
2. Muslims Unity:
• After the setting of goals, the interest for the unity of Muslims
increased rapidly. Muslims started to unite at the platform of
Muslims League. This helped in the unity of Muslims in India.
15. • Stronger Demand for an Islamic State:
After the approval of Pakistan Resolution the demand of Muslims
for an Islamic state grew stronger day by day. This is the reason
that Muslim League developed quite rapidly and it got well
organized.
• Rising of Muslims League as the Representative Muslims
party:
From its formation on 30th Dec 1906, till the approval of the
Pakistan Resolution on March 24, 1940, Muslim League could not
unit the Muslims of India at its platform although it had mad
every sort of effort to do so. Butt with the approval of the
Pakistan Resolution Muslims started to gather at the platform of
Muslims League to get their goal. As the result, Muslims League
became the only representative party of the Indian Muslims
16. • The Quaid.e. Azam as an international Personality;
Gopal Krishna khokhalay, in this speech in the meeting of
congress in 1906 said:
“Whenever India is given Independence
, it would be because of Mr. Jinnah.
As the pakistan Resolution was approved under the president
ship of the Quaid.e.Azam so not only Muslim but Hindus,
Britishers and international commentators started to believe that
the fate of India would be in Division under the leadership of the
Quaid.e.Azam. Gradually, the Development in the Pakistan
movement and the Changing phases of the political scenes of
India Made him an international personality.
