strangers ,family or opposite gender where by
African Americans touch on greetings.
- Islamic and Hindus don’t touch with left
hand. To do so is a social insult.

-in USA : indicates degree of attention or
interest, regulates interaction, communicates
emotion.
-African Americans: more contact while
talking & less while listening and it is vice versa
for Anglo Americans.
-Arabic cultures: believe it shows interest &
truthfulness of the other person
-Japan, Africa, Latin America: avoids to show
respect

-bowing(criticized in US,shows rank in
japan)
-hands in pocket(disrespectful in Turkey)
-sitting with legs crossed(offensive in
Ghana, Turkey)
Facial expressions
- Asian cultures supress facial expression
-Mediterranean(Arabic)cultures
exaggerate grief or sadness while most
American men hide sorrow or grief.

7. As per the saying , ”ACTIONS
SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS”. Non-
verbal communication is specially significant
in intercultural situations.
