Compare And Contrast Anxiety And Depression
There are many similarities between mental disorders like anxiety and depression. Often times, many
symptoms of one disorder stem off of having the other. For example, symptoms of anxiety can be
brought on by depressive thoughts, such as thoughts about suicide, and visa versa. The differences,
however, are far more prominent than the ways they are the same. Anxiety is a disorder characterized
by fear, doubt, and a sense of vulnerability. People with anxiety tend to have less noticeable
symptoms than people with depression, as symptoms of anxiety are things such as physical
sensations of strong emotions of fear. Depression symptoms are more physical and noticeable from
the outside, such as lack of eating or sleep, or lack of interest in doing things. People with
depression may become...show more content...
Anxiety can also run in families, or be caused by outside conditions such as excessive stress,
drastic changes in living conditions, or abuse. Depression on the other hand, is caused by
changes in brain chemistry. However, like anxiety, depression can be caused by genetics and
medical conditions that create an imbalance of the brain's chemicals. Depressive episodes often
last for days, leaving a person mopey and sluggish, or, on the other side of the spectrum,
frighteningly up, or manic. This is when a person seems to have boundless energy and doesn't
sleep for days. Episodes of anxiety last much shorter periods of time, flaring up and disappearing
within the same day. Symptoms of an episode can include increased heart rate, sweating, and
trembling. These can be combatted with controlled breathing, while generally, depressive episodes
have to run their course. Anxiety and depression are two very different, though just as harmful
disorders. When you have one, you generally have the other It's a vicious cycle, but luckily, there
are proven ways to break it. Help is an

A Comparison of Two Advertisements
Advertising is a way of publicizing a product that you want to sell. There are many of different
things to advertise, such as clothes, shoes, cars, watches etc. Advertising promotes the latest goods
that are out in the shops. Advertising effects me everyday because every time I see a advertisement
it attracts me to the product and I think about buying it or saving up to buy it.
In this assignment, I will be talking about two different car advertisements; one car advertisement, the
Fiat Stilo advert comes from FHM magazine, a publication aimed at young men aged sixteen and
over. The other car, the Rover Streetwise advert comes from the Radio Times which is...show more

The Rover streetwise advert has pictures of daily life things such as coffee, donuts, a football,
children's Wellingtons boots and a shopping trolley with groceries inside the trolley. This
indicates that the car is a family car and is aimed at married women mainly but can also be used
by a family man to drive to and from work. The slogan for the advert "shrugs of life's little
challenges" is related to the pictures for example the child's muddy Wellington boot. The donut
would represent the father who is hungry on the way home or to work, the shopping trolley
would represent that the car is useful for a family shopping spree. The advert also uses the word
'Bump' which is saying that even if a heavy load is in the car it can still go over speed bumps. I
like the way the advert creates an image of characters in the readers mind, although you cannot
see a physical person (image) but the pictures imply their existence. For example, like when I saw
the picture of the Wellingtons, an image of a little boy was the first thing I thought of. The advert
tells stories of different family lives because each picture relates to many things in everyday life.
I wouldn't buy this car because it's Rover, and I don't like rovers I don't think they are good quality
cars. However the way this car is designed is nice, it is an attractive car and I wouldn't mind driving
it. I appreciate this

Movie Compare And Contrast Essay
Difference between the movies
The introduction to this research paper will be about the differences and similarities of the three
different movies of romeo and juliet. It will explain the kind of technology and the way the people
dress, how they live, the way they transport. It will begin by describing the stories based on the
movies and also characters and their roles. The type of race and what was different in each other's
movies.
What are the differences in the three movies of Romeo and Juliet? There are many differences in all
three of the movies but at the same time there are also similarities in them. Starting with the
differences, First the Major difference is the setting the time and place. Those are some of the major
differences out of all the movies also including the time.
Other differences would be the characters the technology depending in the time and place, example
1996 and 1968 would be the way the people fought and the way how to attack one another. In the
movie of 1996 the Characters were to use guns and cars but in the movie of romeo and juliet...show

Thesis Statement For Pride And Prejudice
Pride and Prejudice: Essay Outline Thesis statement, including map of development: In Jane
Austen's novel "Pride and Prejudice," the author traces portrait of women's role during the Regency
period: they were expected to get married, to be accomplished and to self–scarify. Topic Sentence
#1: Marriage was crucial at the time, and women of the early Victorian age were expected to
marry and to get their daughters married. a.Argument: Marriage assured social security for both the
women and the family. b.Example: When Lady Catherine tells Elizabeth that Darcy was supposed
to marry her daughter: "The engagement between them is of a particular kind. From their infancy,
they have been intended for each other. It was the favorite wish of his mother, as well as of her's.
While I their cradles, we planned the union: and now, at the moment when the wishes of both sisters
would be accomplished, in their marriage, to be prevented by a young woman of inferior birth, of
no importance in the world, and wholly unallied to the family!" (Austen 335–336). c.Explanation:
Lady Catherine's reaction demonstrates the crucial importance of marriage in the society, but also
for women. Families needed their daughters to marry in the same social class or above to insure
social prestige. Demonstrates Lady Catherine's role to protect the high class and prestige of her
descendants through marriage. For Elizabeth and her family, this union with the higher class assures
them social security. a.Argument: Marriage was a market, women needed to marry to ensure
financial security. b.Example: When Mrs. Bennet learns that Mr. Bingley is coming to town: "A
single man of large fortune; four of five thousands a year. What a fine thing for our girls!" (Austen
6). c.Explanation: Marriage was the only way for the Bennet girls to ensure financial security. Girls
are too high class to get jobs but would not inherit. Financial security also ensured future economic
security for Mrs. Bennet after her husband's death. Topic Sentence #2: Women of the early 1800s
need to demonstrate accomplishments and education. a.Argument: Accomplishments demonstrated a
woman's value. b.Example: Lady Catherine to Elizabeth: " 'Do

Early Childhood Education Compare & Contrast paper As early childhood educators we all have
our own philosophies and approaches to education. There are several types of early childhood
programs. Each program has its own philosophies, methods, and program goals. Every early
childhood educator is unique making each early childhood program experience special. Consistently,
early childhood programs offer educational foundations that prepare young students for their
educational futures. In this paper I will focus on comparing and contrasting two programs that stood

Materials and manipulatives are spread along the outside walls of the classroom and children are
free to choose which type of materials they would like to work with during independent work
time. You do not notice any individual desks and chairs set up in the classroom, rather a few tables
and chairs grouped together. The furniture is all child size and you do not see any adult sized
furniture throughout the classroom. Students spend most of their time working on the floor where
they have their own individual carpets. They put them down to outline their personal workspace.
Instead of there being various toys and games spread through out the classroom, there are specific
sensory materials and manipulatives that are self correcting and purposeful to student's learning.
On the walls students' work fill spaces throughout the classroom, similar to the walls of a Head
Start classroom. Montessori classrooms are made up of mixed grades and ages, something that is
not typical of traditional classrooms. The Head Start program I visited uses a more traditional
comprehensive method. Students are all close to the same age. Since the program is federally
funded there is much emphasis put on performance standards and teaching objectives. The
classrooms at Head Start are a center based classroom with different areas for pretend play, math
manipulatives, language/

Compare And Contrast Two Friends
We all have friends that are alike or different from each other. My friend Nicole and Amy are also
friends. Both of them are alike in some ways, but at the same time unlike from each other. For
example, they both dress to their comfort, but the clothes they choose to wear are different. They
both have similar taste in music and television shows. However, Nicole and Amy are more
different than alike. Nicole and Amy have different appearance and style. Nicole is five feet and
two inches with medium brown wavy hair that is shoulder length. She has big eyes and also
freckles on her face. Nicole tends to dress very casually. For an instant, she would wear jean with a

really sociable and blunt at the same time. I remember a time during lunch there was a table across
from us were talking super loud and she shout "shut up". Amy is not afraid to speak her mind while
Nicole is more shy and quiet. Nicole cannot stand watching gory, horror and supernatural movie. For
example, during summer, our friend, Julie, invited Nicole, Amy, and Iwatch Green Inferno. Nicole
did not want to come along due to the fact that when she watched the trailer of that movie she
found it super gory and disgusting. However, Amy did not find that trailer gory and disgusting and

wanted to watch it while Nicole did not want

Community College vs. Universities
Choosing a college means going to a new, unfamiliar world of immense possibilities. One of the
hardest decisions a high school graduate face is the choice between attending a Community College
or a University. Although Universities and CommunityCollege serve the same purpose, each has its
differences and similarities in their learning such as the admission requirements, expenses, size, and
student life. Community College are the most common type of two–year College that prepares you

Students attending private universities pay an average tuition of $35,374. Those who attend a
community college for the first two year of their education save $8,000 or more. Since most of the
same financial aid including Pell grants and Stafford loans is available for any institution choice,
students in the lowest income brackets can expect a larger financial aid refund from a community
college than a university. Those who need a university education to meet their career goals may be
able to attend a community college part time while they work and save up. Then, when they transfer
to a university for their final two years, they may have saved enough that with financial aid, they can
pursue their four–year degree.
Community Colleges tend to have fewer students per class, which means more attention from
teacher to student. This is good for students who like access to their instructors so they can ask
questions and avoid getting lost in the course material. Universities are bigger than community
colleges and it takes a little longer to find your way around campus. Most teenagers graduate from
high school eager to leave their parents house and do grown up things. The benefit of attending a
University is living on campus instead of your parent's home. Not all universities have dorms, but the
majority of them do. Which you have to pay for parking, fitness center, laundry and other fees
included. Both university and community colleges sponsor

Compare And Contrast Essay On Social Media
Today, social media is greatly utilized. In this essay I'll explain the similarities and differences
between Andrea Shea and Josh Rose of how each feel about social media. Social media is
impacting and changing people's everyday lives. Social media now a day is used in everyday
lifestyle, and is easy to connect with others no matter how far they are. In Andrea Shea, Shea
expresses how Facebook isn't real. Andrea talks about how people take so much time to make to
take a picture perfect images that its almost fake. People of Facebook try and pretend that their
lives are so perfect, and doing that bringing others down because they want to be just like the
person. How people try to make it seem like their having so much fun so they could have more
friends and likes. Andrea expresses the negative and positive about Facebook now a day pretty well.
She explains how the good in Facebook could be bad for some. Like having access to other people's
photos being able to trigger emotional pain and...show more content...

these two articles are different because of how many differences and negatives about social
media that Andrea had. While Josh Rose explain many more positives about social media then
Andrea did. These two articles also have many similarities though, such as both articles believe
that social media is very time consuming. Overall I feel like the two authors had a strong and

more and more people are starting to get connect due to all the positives it has. In our era I
believe that people would always want Facebook because of the face of how many people you

THESIS: In "The Most Dangerous Game" by Richard Connell and "Young Goodman Brown" by
Nathaniel Hawthorne, imagery and characterization are employed to illustrate the ever present inner
darkness of humanity. However, the authors set very different themes in how their protagonists
reflect upon and respond to being faced with it. Both men must choose whether they will reject and
confront evil or simply abide it with apathy.
I. The dark imagery used in both stories convert evil into a nearly tangible entity. a. The lack of
visibility in these stories corresponds to the fear felt by both men. b. The dense jungle/forest instills
a sense of chaos that...show more content...
He offers the younger his staff to help speed his pace (Hawthorne, 264). He even shares a jolly
banter with Goody Cloyse, an elderly woman whom young Goodman Brown recognizes, and
likewise, offers his staff to aid her (Hawthorne, 266). Old Goodman Brown also gives an
articulate counter for every argument young Goodman Brown has to cut their walk short and
return home. For example, when young Goodman Brown boasts the honesty and goodness of his
father and grandfather, the traveler responds that "I have been well acquainted with your family...
They were my good friends" (Hawthorne, 264). The fact that young Goodman Brown had never
heard of such a communion spoken of in his family is almost convincing to him of its plausibility.
Connell also masks General Zaroff's evil nature with an air of friendliness and respectability. From
the moment that Rainsford appears at the front door, the general is welcoming and kind. He gives
Rainsford food, shelter, and offers his own clothes for Rainsford to wear (Connell, 4). During the
course of their conversation, General Zaroff explains to Rainsford that they are kindred spirits as
fellow hunters. Having dominated every prey he has ever stalked, Zaroff has become bored with
traditional hunting and extols the merit of a new game that he has devised, "it supplies me with the
most exciting hunting in the world. No other hunting compares with it for an instant" (Connell, 6).
The general is sure that, as a

Comparing Canada and America Essay examples
Comparing Canada and America
The controversy over Canada and America, and who takes after whom has been around for many
years. Canada and America are puzzles, two countries that are home to millions of people, living in
relative comfort and health. We both have become nations through the help of each other and other
nations. Yet, Canada has itsown identity as a delightful complexity of cultures and customs,
government and heroes. On the other hand, Canadians are simply not Americans by government and
technology.
Canada's own identity starts with our remarkable sense of culture and customs. For the native peoples

The Canadian hero is not the conqueror, nor the general, but the foot solider. He's a figure whose
actions speak louder than words, like Terry Fox., a person more real, more approachable, more than
human. The true Canadian hero remains very much the regular guy. Americans are hero–worshipers
and hero makers. Americans' truest of hero creation and worship comes either advertising, movies,
music and sport stars. They export America's most powerful industry: the American hero and
American myth. By signing your name, winning a game or making a great movie, Americans will
enshrine the moment and make it much bigger than it is. On the contrary, Canadians are simply not
Americans.
Canadians seem to follow in the footsteps of the Americans, but change it to make it better. In,
Canada, our system of government is a blend of British and United States practices, with some
Canadian additions, made to fit our own particular needs. Of course, British, United States, and
Canadian governments all have a lot in common, since both Canada and the United States learned
from Britain the all important idea of responsible government, which rest on the rule of law and the
consent of people. We, paid close attention of the problems that were raised in the United States
federal system and changed it considerably for Canada, to avoid what they we thought were its
weakest points and make it fit better with the practices of British

Comparison and Contrast of Art
Art is able to transport its viewer through time and connect us as a community. Audiences are able to
infer the content and context of the artwork. Art displayed through different mediums and about
different topics can share many similarities and draw connections between one another. Exodus,
created by Shelby Lechman (2015), uses oil paint on canvas to depict a young boy and father in a

However, further connection in context and content can be developed when analyzing the
connection of the works roots and art in history. Exodus exhibits the reality of human suffering as a
result of war and oppression during the Hungarian Revolution. The historical relevance of this work
dives into a deeper significance than its basic face value. The oppression and struggle for power
signified in Exodus also translates into Figure 2. Both cultures, in their own time have faced their
traditions and way of life being threatened. As Hungarian citizens are forced to leave their country,
Ojibwa members were constantly threatened by European immigrants. The human experience is key
in understanding and studying art. Besides the main styles and usage in appearance, the connection
to a point in time and the influence of that time allows the audience to connect with the artist and the
characteristics of the artwork. Audiences are able to connect past themes to present day issues, such
as the difficulties facing many Syrian refugees and the numerous Native American women who
have gone missing. The importance of home and culture is evident in both works despite their
different purposes and artistic modes. Limits are explored and barriers of past, present are future are
removed when audiences are able to interpret the work from any point in time and understand the
significance of its visual and non–visual means.

'An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge' and 'The Red Convertible' 'An Occurrence at Owl Creek
Bridge' by Ambrose Bierce and 'The Red Convertible' by Louise Erdrich both recount sorrowful
tales of men during times of war. The stories differ in that 'An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge' is a
story written in reverse, where the readers do not truly know the plot until the end– whereas 'The
Red Convertible' is just a man recounting the story of his long lost brother. However despite their
differences, both of the stories continue to build up hope in the reader only to find nothing but a
sorrowful story at the end.

The entire story was just a snapshot that occurred in his mind before his death. Ambrose Bierce
purposefully continues to build the anticipation that the devout Union soldier had escaped, only to
drop the reader into a tale of demise and overall doom. 'The Red Convertible' by Louise Endrich
was written in 1984 and revolves around a Vietnam veteran and his brother. Lyman Lamartine is a
young man whose brother has just returned from the Vietnam War and has been traumatized by what
he had seen overseas.
Before the war, Lyman and his brother Henry were extremely close. Before Henry departed for the
war, and as Lyman recounts in the story, the two bonded over a red convertible. This car proves to
be symbolic, both throughout, and at the end of the story, due to the change in Henry's behavior,
illustrated by this quote from when Henry returns: "We had always been together before. But he was
such a loner now that I didn't know how to take it."
When Henry returns, he has no desire to ride in the red convertible, no desire to wear the bright
colored clothes he used to dawn–– instead Henry just liked to sit around and sob about the war. The
quote from the middle of the story, speaking about the television, and how Henry just sat "in front of

This essay will outline and compare both biological and behavioural perspectives on human
behaviour. The history, major discoveries and theories will be discussed along with some of the
most influential theorists in each of these two areas of psychology. This essay will also compare
the two areas strengths and weaknesses in the field of psychology. Biological psychology is the
study of how biology affects a number of psychological processes i.e. how the mind affects the
body (Schacter, Gilbert, Wegner & Hood 2015). The study of the mind has had many influential
figures throughout history that often use each other's ideas as a stepping stone to further
advance psychology, some of the first being Plato and Aristotle. Plato believed in nativism and
theorised some skills and characteristics are innate and a person is born with them (Schacter et al,
2015). Aristotle, however, was in favour of philosophical empiricism i.e. that all knowledge is
acquired through experience, yet current scientists do not consider that nativism and empiricism
are entirely accurate (Schacter et al, 2015). Aristotle also believed that the brain existed to cool
the blood, as during that time people were sceptical that an organ could be responsible for
behaviour (Kolb, Whishaw & Teskey 2016). The next major advancement in biological
psychology was the introduction of phrenology by Francis Gall, Gall's theory suggested that all
psychological capabilities had a specific place in the brain (Schacter et al, 2015). This theory later
turned out to be correct, although was overshadowed by Gall's insistence that he could state a
person's character dependant on the size of lumps and indentations on a person's skull, which he
thought would represent the size of that brain region beneath (Schacter et al, 2015). Due to this, in
spite of a large following, phrenology was quickly discredited. Biologist Pierre Flourens, unhappy
with Gall's research, began removing localized areas of the brain in various animals to observe their
behaviour (Schacter et al, 2015). Flourens then found that animal's movements differed to those with
intact brains. This mirrored a situation for surgeon Paul Broca with whom one of his patients had
damage to the left side of

very few people had clicked on it, so his click–through rate was below our minimum to stay alive,"
Sandberg says, "which says to us, no one was interested in it." Sandberg had to explain to the
advertiser that he needed to pick other terms that users would find more relevant to his ad.
"We value the white space on our page...and we are willing to forgo short–run revenue to build a
long–run program," Sandberg says. "And that's how we've run it from the very beginning."

Comparison of Two Commercials Essay
Outline
Thesis statement: When compared side–by–side, there are differences in the two. Some of these
include that the Lexus ad uses predominantly the logos, or logical, appeal whereas the second uses
pathos, the emotional appeal, the target audiences for both commercials, and the effectiveness of
each. 1. Pathos or logos? 1. VW uses more pathos than Lexus. 1. Humor is effective tactic in
advertising. 2. By using humor, advertisers make their product more memorable. 2. Lexus uses
more Logos than VW. II. Target audiences. 1. VW targets younger viewers but could be effective on
almost anyone. 2. Lexus targets a more mature, serious audience. III. Effectiveness. 1. VW is more
effective because...show more content...
In conclusion, the commercials by Lexus and Volkswagenboth make the viewer consider their
product. To do this, they use different methods of advertising. Also, both companies target different
audiences. When all is said and done, they have varying degrees of success in doing so. Advertising
is a fundamental force in today's society, and because of this, companies must provide the most
effective commercials with presentation of as many logical appeals as possible.

Final Draft: Volkswagen vs. Lexus
Over the last few decades, American culture has been forever changed by the huge amount of
advertisement the people are subjected to. Advertising has become such an integral part of society,
many people will choose whether or not they want to buy a product based only on their familiarity
with it rather than the product's price or effectiveness. Do to that fact, companies must provide the
very best and most convincing advertisements as possible. Those companies have, in fact, done

Compare And Contrast Depression And Anxiety
Depression and anxiety are the two most common mental illnesses in the world today. They make a
person view the world as an ugly, scary place. Many people develop one or the other, and some
develop both. Depression and anxiety are two very different mental illnesses but many people only
see the similarities between them, instead of seeing the difference in their symptoms and emotions.
One of the many differences between depression and anxiety, is their symptoms. According to
Harold Cohen (2016) from psychcentral.com, people with depression have low energy and
"..depressed people often feel overwhelmed by the day–to–day tasks and personal relationships so
essential to life" (para.2). When someone has depression they lose interest in things they used to
love, and they tend to push friends and family away. They also often experience headaches,
insomnia, and a change in appetite. Meanwhile, people with anxiety experience panic attacks in
situations where other people would not. They also feel restless, they shake and sweat, and they
always have a constant worry. The symptoms of anxiety are very different from depression. A
person with anxiety would not have low energy, quite the opposite actually. Someone suffering from
anxiety has a high energy, but is always in a constant state of worry orfear.
Along with the different symptoms of anxiety, they also make the person dealing with the illness
feel differently, emotionally. People who have anxiety often feel like they want to

  • 1. Compare And Contrast Anxiety And Depression There are many similarities between mental disorders like anxiety and depression. Often times, many symptoms of one disorder stem off of having the other. For example, symptoms of anxiety can be brought on by depressive thoughts, such as thoughts about suicide, and visa versa. The differences, however, are far more prominent than the ways they are the same. Anxiety is a disorder characterized by fear, doubt, and a sense of vulnerability. People with anxiety tend to have less noticeable symptoms than people with depression, as symptoms of anxiety are things such as physical sensations of strong emotions of fear. Depression symptoms are more physical and noticeable from the outside, such as lack of eating or sleep, or lack of interest in doing things. People with depression may become...show more content... Anxiety can also run in families, or be caused by outside conditions such as excessive stress, drastic changes in living conditions, or abuse. Depression on the other hand, is caused by changes in brain chemistry. However, like anxiety, depression can be caused by genetics and medical conditions that create an imbalance of the brain's chemicals. Depressive episodes often last for days, leaving a person mopey and sluggish, or, on the other side of the spectrum, frighteningly up, or manic. This is when a person seems to have boundless energy and doesn't sleep for days. Episodes of anxiety last much shorter periods of time, flaring up and disappearing within the same day. Symptoms of an episode can include increased heart rate, sweating, and trembling. These can be combatted with controlled breathing, while generally, depressive episodes have to run their course. Anxiety and depression are two very different, though just as harmful disorders. When you have one, you generally have the other It's a vicious cycle, but luckily, there are proven ways to break it. • 2. A Comparison of Two Advertisements Advertising is a way of publicizing a product that you want to sell. There are many of different things to advertise, such as clothes, shoes, cars, watches etc. Advertising promotes the latest goods that are out in the shops. Advertising effects me everyday because every time I see a advertisement it attracts me to the product and I think about buying it or saving up to buy it. In this assignment, I will be talking about two different car advertisements; one car advertisement, the Fiat Stilo advert comes from FHM magazine, a publication aimed at young men aged sixteen and over. The other car, the Rover Streetwise advert comes from the Radio Times which is...show more content... The Rover streetwise advert has pictures of daily life things such as coffee, donuts, a football, children's Wellingtons boots and a shopping trolley with groceries inside the trolley. This indicates that the car is a family car and is aimed at married women mainly but can also be used by a family man to drive to and from work. The slogan for the advert "shrugs of life's little challenges" is related to the pictures for example the child's muddy Wellington boot. The donut would represent the father who is hungry on the way home or to work, the shopping trolley would represent that the car is useful for a family shopping spree. The advert also uses the word 'Bump' which is saying that even if a heavy load is in the car it can still go over speed bumps. I like the way the advert creates an image of characters in the readers mind, although you cannot see a physical person (image) but the pictures imply their existence. For example, like when I saw the picture of the Wellingtons, an image of a little boy was the first thing I thought of. The advert tells stories of different family lives because each picture relates to many things in everyday life. I wouldn't buy this car because it's Rover, and I don't like rovers I don't think they are good quality cars. However the way this car is designed is nice, it is an attractive car and I wouldn't mind driving it. I appreciate this Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Movie Compare And Contrast Essay Difference between the movies The introduction to this research paper will be about the differences and similarities of the three different movies of romeo and juliet. It will explain the kind of technology and the way the people dress, how they live, the way they transport. It will begin by describing the stories based on the movies and also characters and their roles. The type of race and what was different in each other's movies. What are the differences in the three movies of Romeo and Juliet? There are many differences in all three of the movies but at the same time there are also similarities in them. Starting with the differences, First the Major difference is the setting the time and place. Those are some of the major differences out of all the movies also including the time. Other differences would be the characters the technology depending in the time and place, example 1996 and 1968 would be the way the people fought and the way how to attack one another. In the movie of 1996 the Characters were to use guns and cars but in the movie of romeo and juliet...show more content... • 4. Thesis Statement For Pride And Prejudice Pride and Prejudice: Essay Outline Thesis statement, including map of development: In Jane Austen's novel "Pride and Prejudice," the author traces portrait of women's role during the Regency period: they were expected to get married, to be accomplished and to self–scarify. Topic Sentence #1: Marriage was crucial at the time, and women of the early Victorian age were expected to marry and to get their daughters married. a.Argument: Marriage assured social security for both the women and the family. b.Example: When Lady Catherine tells Elizabeth that Darcy was supposed to marry her daughter: "The engagement between them is of a particular kind. From their infancy, they have been intended for each other. It was the favorite wish of his mother, as well as of her's. While I their cradles, we planned the union: and now, at the moment when the wishes of both sisters would be accomplished, in their marriage, to be prevented by a young woman of inferior birth, of no importance in the world, and wholly unallied to the family!" (Austen 335–336). c.Explanation: Lady Catherine's reaction demonstrates the crucial importance of marriage in the society, but also for women. Families needed their daughters to marry in the same social class or above to insure social prestige. Demonstrates Lady Catherine's role to protect the high class and prestige of her descendants through marriage. For Elizabeth and her family, this union with the higher class assures them social security. a.Argument: Marriage was a market, women needed to marry to ensure financial security. b.Example: When Mrs. Bennet learns that Mr. Bingley is coming to town: "A single man of large fortune; four of five thousands a year. What a fine thing for our girls!" (Austen 6). c.Explanation: Marriage was the only way for the Bennet girls to ensure financial security. Girls are too high class to get jobs but would not inherit. Financial security also ensured future economic security for Mrs. Bennet after her husband's death. Topic Sentence #2: Women of the early 1800s need to demonstrate accomplishments and education. a.Argument: Accomplishments demonstrated a woman's value. b.Example: Lady Catherine to Elizabeth: " 'Do Get more content on HelpWriting.net

There are several types of early childhood programs. Each program has its own philosophies, methods, and program goals. Every early childhood educator is unique making each early childhood program experience special. Consistently, early childhood programs offer educational foundations that prepare young students for their educational futures. In this paper I will focus on comparing and contrasting two programs that stood out to me, Ridgeline Montessori and the Whitaker Head Start. When examining early childhood programs there are many similarities and differences across the board....show more content... Materials and manipulatives are spread along the outside walls of the classroom and children are free to choose which type of materials they would like to work with during independent work time. You do not notice any individual desks and chairs set up in the classroom, rather a few tables and chairs grouped together. The furniture is all child size and you do not see any adult sized furniture throughout the classroom. Students spend most of their time working on the floor where they have their own individual carpets. They put them down to outline their personal workspace. Instead of there being various toys and games spread through out the classroom, there are specific sensory materials and manipulatives that are self correcting and purposeful to student's learning. On the walls students' work fill spaces throughout the classroom, similar to the walls of a Head Start classroom. Montessori classrooms are made up of mixed grades and ages, something that is not typical of traditional classrooms. The Head Start program I visited uses a more traditional comprehensive method. Students are all close to the same age. Since the program is federally funded there is much emphasis put on performance standards and teaching objectives. The classrooms at Head Start are a center based classroom with different areas for pretend play, math manipulatives, language/ Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Both of them are alike in some ways, but at the same time unlike from each other. For example, they both dress to their comfort, but the clothes they choose to wear are different. They both have similar taste in music and television shows. However, Nicole and Amy are more different than alike. Nicole and Amy have different appearance and style. Nicole is five feet and two inches with medium brown wavy hair that is shoulder length. She has big eyes and also freckles on her face. Nicole tends to dress very casually. For an instant, she would wear jean with a graphic tee or a blouse and navy blue classic vans. She occasionally keeps up with the latest fashion trend. However, when it comes to people she likes and enjoys talking to, she is a social butterfly. Amy was never in any a team sport. However, she plays tennis with her cousins for fun. Amy is really sociable and blunt at the same time. I remember a time during lunch there was a table across from us were talking super loud and she shout "shut up". Amy is not afraid to speak her mind while Nicole is more shy and quiet. Nicole cannot stand watching gory, horror and supernatural movie. For example, during summer, our friend, Julie, invited Nicole, Amy, and Iwatch Green Inferno. Nicole did not want to come along due to the fact that when she watched the trailer of that movie she found it super gory and disgusting. However, Amy did not find that trailer gory and disgusting and came long to watch the movie with us. Amy enjoys watching horror or supernatural movie or shows. Although Universities and CommunityCollege serve the same purpose, each has its differences and similarities in their learning such as the admission requirements, expenses, size, and student life. Students attending private universities pay an average tuition of $35,374. Those who attend a community college for the first two year of their education save $8,000 or more. Since most of the same financial aid including Pell grants and Stafford loans is available for any institution choice, students in the lowest income brackets can expect a larger financial aid refund from a community college than a university. Those who need a university education to meet their career goals may be able to attend a community college part time while they work and save up. Then, when they transfer to a university for their final two years, they may have saved enough that with financial aid, they can pursue their four–year degree. Community Colleges tend to have fewer students per class, which means more attention from teacher to student. This is good for students who like access to their instructors so they can ask questions and avoid getting lost in the course material. Universities are bigger than community colleges and it takes a little longer to find your way around campus. Most teenagers graduate from high school eager to leave their parents house and do grown up things. The benefit of attending a University is living on campus instead of your parent's home. Not all universities have dorms, but the majority of them do. Which you have to pay for parking, fitness center, laundry and other fees included. In this essay I'll explain the similarities and differences between Andrea Shea and Josh Rose of how each feel about social media. Social media is impacting and changing people's everyday lives. Social media now a day is used in everyday lifestyle, and is easy to connect with others no matter how far they are. In Andrea Shea, Shea expresses how Facebook isn't real. Overall I feel like the two authors had a strong and support details to their arguments about social media. • 10. Short Story Compare/Contrast Fiction Essay ENGL 102: Composition and Literature MLA Outline THESIS: In "The Most Dangerous Game" by Richard Connell and "Young Goodman Brown" by Nathaniel Hawthorne, imagery and characterization are employed to illustrate the ever present inner darkness of humanity. However, the authors set very different themes in how their protagonists reflect upon and respond to being faced with it. Both men must choose whether they will reject and confront evil or simply abide it with apathy. I. The dark imagery used in both stories convert evil into a nearly tangible entity. a. The lack of visibility in these stories corresponds to the fear felt by both men. b. The dense jungle/forest instills a sense of chaos that...show more content... He even shares a jolly banter with Goody Cloyse, an elderly woman whom young Goodman Brown recognizes, and likewise, offers his staff to aid her (Hawthorne, 266). Old Goodman Brown also gives an articulate counter for every argument young Goodman Brown has to cut their walk short and return home. For example, when young Goodman Brown boasts the honesty and goodness of his father and grandfather, the traveler responds that "I have been well acquainted with your family... They were my good friends" (Hawthorne, 264). The fact that young Goodman Brown had never heard of such a communion spoken of in his family is almost convincing to him of its plausibility. Connell also masks General Zaroff's evil nature with an air of friendliness and respectability. From the moment that Rainsford appears at the front door, the general is welcoming and kind. He gives Rainsford food, shelter, and offers his own clothes for Rainsford to wear (Connell, 4). During the course of their conversation, General Zaroff explains to Rainsford that they are kindred spirits as fellow hunters. Having dominated every prey he has ever stalked, Zaroff has become bored with traditional hunting and extols the merit of a new game that he has devised, "it supplies me with the most exciting hunting in the world. No other hunting compares with it for an instant" (Connell, 6). The general is sure that, as a Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Canada and America are puzzles, two countries that are home to millions of people, living in relative comfort and health. We both have become nations through the help of each other and other nations. Yet, Canada has itsown identity as a delightful complexity of cultures and customs, government and heroes. On the other hand, Canadians are simply not Americans by government and technology. Americans are hero–worshipers and hero makers. Americans' truest of hero creation and worship comes either advertising, movies, music and sport stars. They export America's most powerful industry: the American hero and American myth. By signing your name, winning a game or making a great movie, Americans will enshrine the moment and make it much bigger than it is. On the contrary, Canadians are simply not Americans. Canadians seem to follow in the footsteps of the Americans, but change it to make it better. In, Canada, our system of government is a blend of British and United States practices, with some Canadian additions, made to fit our own particular needs. Of course, British, United States, and Canadian governments all have a lot in common, since both Canada and the United States learned from Britain the all important idea of responsible government, which rest on the rule of law and the consent of people. Exodus exhibits the reality of human suffering as a result of war and oppression during the Hungarian Revolution. The historical relevance of this work dives into a deeper significance than its basic face value. The oppression and struggle for power signified in Exodus also translates into Figure 2. Both cultures, in their own time have faced their traditions and way of life being threatened. As Hungarian citizens are forced to leave their country, Ojibwa members were constantly threatened by European immigrants. The human experience is key in understanding and studying art. Besides the main styles and usage in appearance, the connection to a point in time and the influence of that time allows the audience to connect with the artist and the characteristics of the artwork. Audiences are able to connect past themes to present day issues, such as the difficulties facing many Syrian refugees and the numerous Native American women who have gone missing. The importance of home and culture is evident in both works despite their different purposes and artistic modes. Limits are explored and barriers of past, present are future are removed when audiences are able to interpret the work from any point in time and understand the significance of its visual and non–visual means. Efrain Rincon Jr Professor Yuhas English – 6 6 May, 2013 'An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge' and 'The Red Convertible' 'An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge' by Ambrose Bierce and 'The Red Convertible' by Louise Erdrich both recount sorrowful tales of men during times of war. The stories differ in that 'An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge' is a story written in reverse, where the readers do not truly know the plot until the end– whereas 'The Red Convertible' is just a man recounting the story of his long lost brother. Ambrose Bierce purposefully continues to build the anticipation that the devout Union soldier had escaped, only to drop the reader into a tale of demise and overall doom. 'The Red Convertible' by Louise Endrich was written in 1984 and revolves around a Vietnam veteran and his brother. Lyman Lamartine is a young man whose brother has just returned from the Vietnam War and has been traumatized by what he had seen overseas. Before the war, Lyman and his brother Henry were extremely close. Before Henry departed for the war, and as Lyman recounts in the story, the two bonded over a red convertible. This car proves to be symbolic, both throughout, and at the end of the story, due to the change in Henry's behavior, illustrated by this quote from when Henry returns: "We had always been together before. But he was such a loner now that I didn't know how to take it." When Henry returns, he has no desire to ride in the red convertible, no desire to wear the bright colored clothes he used to dawn–– instead Henry just liked to sit around and sob about the war. Topic sentence: Big Brother and the party control every single aspect of the citizen's lives. "Don 't you see that the whole aim of Newspeak is to narrow the range of thought? In the end we shall make thoughtcrime literally impossible, because there will be no words in which to express it" In 1984 every thought is considered a threat towards the party. No sense of individualism exists. There is no hierarchy like in Brave New World, the only power that exists is Big Brother and everyone else belongs to the same "caste". "Sexual intercourse was to be looked on as slightly disgusting minor operation" The party represses natural, human instincts to control them. Doublethink: "To hold simultaneously 2 opinions which cancel out" (page 35). Changes the truth. Doublespeak: Language used to disguise the actual meaning. "Newspeak" is enforced to eliminate words and replace emotion, words like "excellent" are replaced with "plusgood" or "plusplusgood". They are controlled to speak the way the party wants them to. • 16. This essay will outline and compare both biological and behavioural perspectives on human behaviour. The history, major discoveries and theories will be discussed along with some of the most influential theorists in each of these two areas of psychology. This essay will also compare the two areas strengths and weaknesses in the field of psychology. Biological psychology is the study of how biology affects a number of psychological processes i.e. how the mind affects the body (Schacter, Gilbert, Wegner & Hood 2015). The study of the mind has had many influential figures throughout history that often use each other's ideas as a stepping stone to further advance psychology, some of the first being Plato and Aristotle. Plato believed in nativism and theorised some skills and characteristics are innate and a person is born with them (Schacter et al, 2015). Aristotle, however, was in favour of philosophical empiricism i.e. that all knowledge is acquired through experience, yet current scientists do not consider that nativism and empiricism are entirely accurate (Schacter et al, 2015). Aristotle also believed that the brain existed to cool the blood, as during that time people were sceptical that an organ could be responsible for behaviour (Kolb, Whishaw & Teskey 2016). The next major advancement in biological psychology was the introduction of phrenology by Francis Gall, Gall's theory suggested that all psychological capabilities had a specific place in the brain (Schacter et al, 2015). This theory later turned out to be correct, although was overshadowed by Gall's insistence that he could state a person's character dependant on the size of lumps and indentations on a person's skull, which he thought would represent the size of that brain region beneath (Schacter et al, 2015). Due to this, in spite of a large following, phrenology was quickly discredited. Biologist Pierre Flourens, unhappy with Gall's research, began removing localized areas of the brain in various animals to observe their behaviour (Schacter et al, 2015). Flourens then found that animal's movements differed to those with intact brains. This mirrored a situation for surgeon Paul Broca with whom one of his patients had damage to the left side of Get more content on HelpWriting.net

At the Google Analyst Day in early March this year, CEO Eric Schmidt outlined the company's priorities for 2006. "Notice I didn't say advertisers, I said end users," Schmidt emphasizes. Sandberg had to explain to the advertiser that he needed to pick other terms that users would find more relevant to his ad. • 19. Compare And Contrast Depression And Anxiety Depression and anxiety are the two most common mental illnesses in the world today. They make a person view the world as an ugly, scary place. Many people develop one or the other, and some develop both. Depression and anxiety are two very different mental illnesses but many people only see the similarities between them, instead of seeing the difference in their symptoms and emotions. One of the many differences between depression and anxiety, is their symptoms. According to Harold Cohen (2016) from psychcentral.com, people with depression have low energy and "..depressed people often feel overwhelmed by the day–to–day tasks and personal relationships so essential to life" (para.2). When someone has depression they lose interest in things they used to love, and they tend to push friends and family away. They also often experience headaches, insomnia, and a change in appetite. Meanwhile, people with anxiety experience panic attacks in situations where other people would not. They also feel restless, they shake and sweat, and they always have a constant worry. The symptoms of anxiety are very different from depression. A person with anxiety would not have low energy, quite the opposite actually. Someone suffering from anxiety has a high energy, but is always in a constant state of worry orfear. Along with the different symptoms of anxiety, they also make the person dealing with the illness feel differently, emotionally.
