Diego's homeless population is the fourth largest in the United States (Schroeder, 2015).
Reason to Listen: As you will soon see, there are easy steps that we can all take to help this growing

allowed me to volunteer around my community throughout high school and I have also researched
about how beneficial community service can be.
Thesis statement: To persuade the audience that there should be a required amount of hours that a
student needs to volunteer before they can graduate high school.
Preview your Main Points: Many students do not volunteer because it is not a requirement and
therefore are uneducated about the benefits of volunteering. Creating a mandatory amount of hours a
student needs to complete will educate students about the benefits of volunteering as well as benefit

Reflection Of A Community Service
The aim of this essay is to reflect on my learning and development primarily during the process of
the community service that I have done with my team at St. Barnabas home, Klang. I will also be
writing on the importance my experiences, evaluating my own development and examine the issues

The thought of community service was a bore to me before I began my volunteer work. I dreaded

things. Construction involves math and clever thinking as well. On my first day I just watched as

Throughout my life I always thought the little things that we do to help people in our community

Community Housing of Wyandotte County (CHWC) is a non–profit organization that build, rent
and sell houses for lower prices, to families in need, their goal is to help people to achieve their

I walked there with three girls named Alicia, Veronica and Karla. They showed me where their
beds where and gave me a whole tour around the institution. I was impressed with all the beds they

I would have this little book where in the beginning I would ask the child to read a few words and
sounds and correct him if I have to. After that, we would start to read the story. After we finished
the story I would record it on a record sheet and the kid would put a number on a cookie chart,

Each session of the books was in different colors. There were about 24 books in each session.
When the kid finished reading the whole session, the teacher would come by and the child takes

Imagine struggling to afford the 'mandatory' three meals you're supposed to consume a day. It
would be hard and stressful right? I met over one hundred hungry people that have to feel this
emotion every day of their life, struggling to provide enough food to make a meal, fulfill their

called "Broad Street Ministry" a Christian based community church. They have many community

At first when I found out I was going to have to do this essay I was not too excited. I had no idea
what I could possibly write about because I did not know that things I did on the average day could
be considered community service.
"Community Service is important for many reasons. Taking part and volunteering teaches
compassion and understanding. You can volunteer for something you really believe and have an
interest in, and can volunteer as much or as little as you'd like or have time for." Community service
is really easy to get into. I mean, it is not like you have to put out an application and have an

It benefits me in a lot of ways as well. For instance, I get extra credit, opportunities to get ribbons,
and the opportunity to get to go on the canoe trip for free.
When I help my grandma and the neighbors I help with things around the house, babysit, and do yard
work. Babysitting isn't exactly my favorite thing, but I do it to help out. Most of the things I do I don't
mind doing. I love helping out.
At my church I help clean, watch the kids, organize the youth group, plan plays, plan trips, and
serve communion. Helping out at the church is one of my favorite things to do because I get to
do so much. My favorite things that I do at the church are with the youth group. I organize who
all needs a ride, what we will be working on that day, and the activity afterwards. I also plan the
trips in the summer and which camp we will go to. And at church events I keep an eye on the
kids for their parents and find things fun for them to do. I clean up after church, meetings, and
events. Usually it only takes a little over an hour and a half to do. On Sundays I serve communion
and sometimes I even read scripture. We do an Easter play and a Christmas play every year and I
help decide what play we will do and organize the meetings and the performance
