2. Common Core – Is more than content that
tells kids stuff...
... it guides us to “do” things.
3. To be ready for college, workforce training, and life in a technological society, students need the ability
to gather, comprehend, evaluate,
synthesize, and report on information and ideas, to
conduct original research in order to answer
questions or solve problems, and to analyze and create a high
volume and extensive range of print and nonprint texts in media forms old and new. The need to
conduct research and to produce and
consume media is embedded into every aspect of today’s curriculum. In like fashion,
research and media skills and understandings are embedded throughout the Standards rather than treated in a
separate section.

Hitting the Standards
5. The web is the greatest repository of
knowledge – our job is easier
6. You have awesome curriculum that “tells” kids
stuff.
What if it helped them actually “do” things?
What if it gave life to the “intent” of the Common
Core standard
7. How? It’s easier than you think
• Teacher created lessons as a guide
• Use lesson plans to design projects
• Share work load - share your projects
• Several digital tools to search, aggregate,
and present
• Many tools have class management built-
in
9. Discover web content, preview, &
create educational themes
Add your own content,
an instructional point of
view, make an argument,
and frame the message

What’s my measurement
rubric?

• Use of appropriate resources
• How unique are resources
• Encourage “user gen” content*

Themeefy lets you grab pretty much anything you
Want of the web, add your own materials, to create a
personalized magazine that can be shared/embedded
wherever you want. It looks pretty neat and simple.
Carli Spina (Boston)
A fun tool for teachers & librarians who are teaching
students about curation and guiding them through the
process of collecting reliable sources & giving proper
attribution. The final layout of Themeefy collections is
likely to be far more engaging for students than many of
the other available curation tools
@MBritt (NY)
Can’t wait to try out Themeefy.
Looks like a cool way for students
to create projects.

As a class project, I instructed my students to create an
online magazine using a new internet program called
Themeefy. The results were extraordinary.

satisfactoria.
