My Hopes And Fears
Hopes and fears. A dream is always great but it comes with hopes and fears. The fears we have
make it extremely challenging to accomplish our dreams. I believe our fears wake us up into
understanding that sometimes our dreams just aren't realistic. I've learned that college comes with a
tremendous amount of hopes and fears. College is also a dream for many people, especially those
who are the first to attend college in their family. As a college student of course we all hope to
graduate but we also fear that we won't graduate. It's more than just graduating though. We spend
nearly 13 years in grade school so by the time we reach college we are exhausted and overwhelmed
with school. Graduating in 4 years becomes our next goal but over the years it has become harder
and harder to get out of college in just 4 years. I plan to go to a community college over the
summers to get further and to make college a little bit cheaper. If all goes well I hope to graduate
within 4 years or even sooner than expected. I hope I am able to complete college in 4 years
because if I have to suffer any longer I feel I will want to discontinue my education. The
transformation from college to high school is more difficult than I expected it to be. With that
being said I fear that I won't be able to adjust in time. If you compare the two together high school
is a breeze compared to college. We are prepared in high school for the college life but it is
nothing like they say in high school. For example, high schoolers are taught to write 6 paragraph
essays but as soon as you get to college you are expected to write 3 pages at least 2 pages
minimum. We are no longer forced to go to school everyday or go to class everyday. There is no
motivation in going to school, the only motivation is the fact that we are now paying for school
so if we fail a class we realize that we are paying for each time we are not paying attention. You're
given a large amount of freedom in college but the problem is being responsible enough to manage
your time. I feel like the hardest thing is remembering when to turn in assignments because in high
school teachers are constantly demanding for the work but in college you're on your own you don't

Charles R Snyder, a well known psychologist, spoke about home and once said hope includes
three elements: a goal, a path, and a belief. The person who is hopeful will believes that they will
succeed. Secondly, the person will have a specific goal, direction or destination they are trying to
reach. Thirdly, the person knows the route or path they will have to take in order to achieve their
desired outcome. That is why, hope is a mindset, the will and determination to believe that one will

something that they can do to help anyone else in a similar situation. Not everyone has a happy
ending but small acts like that can go a long way. Another way I picture hope is how young girls

them to be sold out before they can get to the window and buy them, especially when they are at the

the show on the road." Crossing the kitchen, I played hopscotch along the tile floor. Quigley, our
brown mutt, jumped up in excitement behind me and his paws too, bounded down the tile floor.
"Sorry Quigs, but I'm not sure that is quite how you play," My mom jokingly explained. She
reached down to pat his head and he wagged his tail, as if to say, "I love you too!" With that, the
Quig man pranced over to me, wanting attention from his favorite person in the world. "Here bud,
I got some snacks that smile back!" I tossed them into the air just so he could reach. But, like all
the other times, his big, brown, dog lips got in the way and the treat fell onto the floor. i sighed
and then turned in the direction of the stove. "7:45!!" I shouted. "We're late! We're late, for a very
important date!" My cheeks were pushed up slightly with a grin of satisfaction, knowing that I had
found a more appropriate time to use my punch–line. Giggling, I called back goodbye to Quigley and
leaped out the door. skipping towards the blue minivan, I slung my backpack across my pink
covered back.

Hope Poem Analysis
"Hope" by Lisa Mueller is a poem that entranced me from the moment that I read the first syllable.
The picture that she painted with her elegant words pulled me into the beige colored pages of my
textbook and mesmerized me throughout all four stanzas. "Hope" inspired its desired effect as each
word in this poem washed over me with an awe–aspiring feeling. This poem made me feel almost
unworldly as it persuaded me to reach out and grasp for my own aspirations. Mueller's poem also
awakened the realization that no matter how discouraged I might be, hope will always prevail
and pick me back up once more. Lisa Mueller's "Hope" indicates that hope is something that we all
long for; we all hope for good fortune, fine weather, happier times, love, and success. Hope plays
a crucial role in our everyday lives, as it fuels and motivates us to accomplish our goals, such as
getting a promotion, having a child with the person you love, or finding your place with God. We
are surrounded by hope; it is existential, spiritual and pragmatic. It is the essence of our being.
Mueller writes that hope can be found in dark corners, in mushroom gills, on dandelions and on the
wings of green angels (1–8). The first stanza of "Hope" insinuates that hope can be found anywhere
and at any time, as it references the strange places where hope hides, like dark corners and on the
wings of green angels. The dark corners represent the dark times in our lives, comparatively to
receiving a demotion,
