We are going to do these things on Rainier : More energy efficient travel to and from the airport. Shuttle vans to bottom of mountain, instead of individual transportation. Minimize equipment without minimizing safety. Follow the same policy found on Everest: Leave No Trace (Mandated). Must keep climbers in check. Helps deepen the executive team’s understanding of the research required and look for ways moving forward to minimize. The best thing to do is not to go. The reality is – we are going to go. No perfect answer, but this is the best thing we have right now.
EB is a client of S44 and we want to work together and do as much as we can to make our expeditions environmentally friendly. Our plan is to always took for ways to reduce, rather than offsetting. As we do it, we are going to learn. First carbon neutral climb by 2015, future plans: Eddie Bauer & Source 44’s study will pave the way for more environmentally friendly expeditions. The sustainability findings will help any adventurer shrink their footprint and in turn lessen their true impact on the environment
