A Benefit for Larry Wardenburg
Larry has been diagnosed with a very rare and deadly form of cancer. It has
metastasized to his liver and lymph nodes. Carcinoid Cancer affects 10 in 1
Million people. He needs a critical, life extending treatment that insurance does
not cover. The treatment is in Basel, Switzerland and can extend his life 10-15
years. This fundraiser is to help him get the three treatments he needs.

What does the Flushing Zebra mean?
The Flushing Zebra has become the "mascot" of sorts for Carcinoid Cancer.
The "flushing" part is obvious because it's one of the major symptoms of Carcinoid cancer.
The zebra comes from the story that doctors in medical school are taught that “if you hear hoofs, don’t look
for zebras.” In other words, go for the obvious first. Carcinoids say that “if you hear hoofs, look behind you, it
might be a zebra.” Look beyond the obvious because it might save your life.
Because many of the symptoms associated with Carcinoid cancer are symptoms associated with other
common conditions (IBS, etc), Carcinoid cancer often goes undiagnosed for years until it has metastasized to
other major organs in the body, making it deadly.

You, as the guest pilot, will get to fly real military fighters
alongside licensed fighter pilots in the cockpit. All aircraft
are outfitted with three high-end digital multi-camera
systems to capture your fighter pilot experience, as well
as a tracking system that verifies an air-to-air “kill”.You
will be briefed beforehand on basic fighter tactics, Rules
of Engagement, and the physiological effects of G-forces.
Then you’ll climb into the cockpit with an instructor pilot
for the thrill of a lifetime! You will practice formation
flying, basic maneuvers and engage in 5-6 dogfights. The
entire experience is recorded on a mini-DVD from three
onboard cockpit cameras. The tapes are used for de-
briefing purposes and are yours to keep.
