The Security Master Redesign(SMR) program is a multi phase work effort to establish a
single, authoritative ( golden copy) security master solution for all asset classes - a new
Enterprise Security Master (ESM) platform for the firm.
The program will implement a vendor provided security master software solution within
Schwab's environment, redirecting ( or establishing new) security data feeds to ESM , and
creating a method of controlling a distributing security description data and end of day
pricing to consuming applications and users. The platform will centralize the
administration of security reference data and define data context rules that take a 'best of
breed' approach on data source between different vendors based on confidence of the
source for given data element. It also aims to improve the quality of security data by
