1. TOPIC 8
Part 1
1. What kind of games that you like when you were a child?
The game that I liked most in my childhood was hide-and-seek. I played it numerous
times when I was a kid. Normally I played this game with my friends or classmates
after class or during the weekends in a park or in a building with lots of rooms. Hide-
and-seek was fun because it was simple. These days we play computer games to get
fun, but sometimes I really missed those simple pleasures of old days.
2. What do you like best about childhood? Why?
The best thing about childhood was the fact that you could be yourself without caring
about other people's opinions, that you could do whatever you wanted without
thinking about the consequences, that you could spend your days running
around, playing in the dust and painting pictures in the clouds. There was no
pressure,no stress,no expectations and absolutely no boundaries. As you grow up
these things become most difficult to do.
In childhood we are not limited by reality. We believe we can fly. Sometimes we try
it. If it does not go well we are not daunted. And so we run across a high hill with the
wind in our face and our arms akimbo and we know what it feels like to fly.
We leave childhood when the pursuit of pure joy is no longer alluring enough to
make us forget the consequences of the attempt.
3. If you had a chance to come back your childhood, what would you do?
I'd go hug and talk to mom and dad when they were younger and figure out how they
felt and thought about me back then.
Definitely, drop by to see my childhood friends, and spend a few hours catching fish
in the drains, or raising tadpoles, drawing.
Rummage through my old stuff and try not to cry at all the things I've forgotten and
left behind. Walk through the old neighbourhood and marvel at the changes yet to
come.
Take in the feel of everything, try my best to savour every detail before I'm ejected
back to my adult self.
Lastly, I'll make a time capsule for my preciousssses... Well, stuff I know will get lost
somehow, that I'd adore and appreciate very much right now.
2. 4. What do you often do to help you relax?
I love cooking when i feel stresseed. I don't get a recipe, I don't measure. I just cook
and see what happens. It just mellows me out. I love theatre, but at the end of the day
it can sometimes be stressful. So i unwind by cooking a great meal and then eating
it. I also love swimming, during the summer. When I was younger, i’d go walking in
the woods behind my house to relax, and just let my imagination go wild.
5. Which do you prefer, spending the weekend with your family or with your
friends? Why so?
It depends. However, I prefer to spend more time with my family because I have been
spent a great deal of time for my friends already. Spending time with family is one of
the best ways to create memorable experiences. Nothing can replace the time you
spend with your family. This is especially true if you have children. With younger
children, there’s a good chance that you already spend a lot of time with them, with
older children and teenagers though, who may prefer to spend time with their friends,
it can be more difficult to carve out family time.
If you don’t know where to start, consider starting small: dinner at the table, a board
game in the evening. If games aren’t your family’s idea of a good time, try outside
activities -perhaps a walk to the park. Even projects around the house can be a great
way to get everyone involved and working towards a goal. Encourage your family to
spend time together by looking out for opportunities to do things that everyone would
be interested in. It may be a challenge at first, but soon it will become second nature.
6. Where do you usually spend the weekend with your family or friends?
I just want to stay at home (with my family). Eating meals together, talking about the
events of the day, sharing joys and defeats, doing household chores together and
spending some evenings popping corn and watching movies are examples of shared
activities. Some families schedule one evening every week for special family fun
activities. Here is a list of family fun things to do on this weekend that will help you
have fun with your families and spend quality time with them.
Part 2:
It’s no denying that all these three options are really great and fantanstic. However, if
I can only choose one, I think I’ll go with “Staying at home watching TV”.
3. Firstly, playing sports can give you a healthy life and a fit body. You will be more
active and healthier by playing sports. To illustrate, you can have a lower chance of
getting a serious illness such as a heart attack or high blood pressure.
In other words, it increases your resistance to illness. In leisure time, you can play
sports with your friends or your relatives, this not only helps you but also motivates
everyone around you to take part in sports and have good health.
Lastly, there are some sports which you can play easily such as table tennis, tennis or
football and after that, you feel completely relaxed or even free from your stress.

TOPIC 2:
Part 1:
1. Do you enjoy reading?
- I always thought that I was not a great one for reading books. I could spend the
whole day playing video games while just a second after I opened books made
me feel sleepy. However, thanks to the advice from my grandfather, I
increasingly have deep passion for it. Now I am a bookworm really
- To be honest, i have keen interest in books. Some of my friends always look down
on me for the reason that as a man, I am lazy with sports like football, badminton
or even playing video games and they think it is weird of me. However, I have
different thinking that each person has different interests. If I play sports like other
4. men, I may become their second version. That’s why, I believe that my reading
books makes me outstanding.
- Definitely yes. Well, you know, this hobby can have positive influences on me.
The first thing I would like to say is that as a result of reading books of different
fields, I can broaden my knowledge about life. I could not forget to mention that
no sooner do I read books than I can escape from the hustle and bustle of this busy
life. Finally, I believe that reading books may cultivate my imagination much.
2. What kinds of books do you often read?
I like to read many sorts of books. When I want to escape, my favourites are fantasy
literature, including children's books, and murder mysteries. However, I also like to
read non-fiction, about subjects which interest me such as Egyptology, mythology
and other fairly esoteric matters. I read "serious" literature and classics as well,
although tend not to read too many classics as I find some of them dry. I absolutely
cannot abide chick lit, romance and "hard" science fiction about space ships with lots
of techno-talk in them. I'm fortunate to be part of the Bookcrossing community and
have come across many books and authors I would not have heard of otherwise.
3. What are the advantages of reading instead of watching television or going to
cinema?
First, books Leave Room for the Imagination
Nobody can tell you how to read a book. Your English teacher can throw suggestions
into your head and your mom can tell you her favorite parts, but in the end, the way
that you interpret a book is entirely up to you. However, movies tell you what to
think. They use visual and sound effects to make you see and feel a certain way.
There is nothing wrong with seeing a movie, but sometimes you miss out on the
opportunity to express your imagination when you favor movies over books.
Second, Books are Portable
You can read a book anywhere you go. You don’t need a power source to charge your
book, and you don’t need a television screen on which to watch it. Books are easy to
travel with, and are always an endless source of entertainment.
Third, Books Allow Readers to Better Understand the Characters
5. Internal dialogue is an integral part of reading a book. With all this knowledge
inherently embedded into the story, understanding the actions and motivations of the
main characters is never a problem. Yet, some of that knowledge can be lost in a
movie. Many people are distracted by beautiful actors and fantastic special effects,
and so they lose sight of the plot and character development that is truly at the heart
of the story. However, there are no such distractions in books, allowing for the
readers to feel as if they know the characters on a personal level.
4. Can you tell something about your plan in the next ten years?
To do better in everything, we have to keep a plan and work accordingly. Since future
is always uncertain and if we do not have any plans, it would be impossible for us to
reach our goals. In the next 10 years, I want to see me in a position, after next five
years, where I will be able to take care of my organisation smoothly. Besides, all my
responsibilities would be centred on the welfare of the organisation. I will have my
own family probably and would try to travel as much as possible then.
5. Why do you plan your life that way?
The reason why I planned my life in such a way is I would like to establish a
corporate agency where I would be able to employ both the skilled and unskilled
people which will help to improve their livelihood. I want to be dotting father and
caring husband then and would like to enjoy my time through my works, passions
and family bonding.
6. What are the factors that can make your plans successful? Why?
As people often say, we need 4 steps to make our plans successful which are: Dream
it, Believe it, Tell it, Work it. We also need to make a discipline and be strict to
ourselves.
Part 2:
Throwing a party AT HOME.
- You can save money on venue costs. The venue is one party element that can
take up a significant portion of the budget as most party venues nowadays are
quite costly. On the other hand, throwing a party in your yard will let you save
6. extra cash that you can spend on other stuff like food, decorations or party
favours.
- Your place is easier to locate. If you’re inviting close friends and relatives to the
party, most of them probably already know where you live or are at least familiar
with your location. This makes it easier for them to attend your party. You can
then spare yourself from the hassle of giving complicated directions to the venue.
- You can have more control of the event. As you are using your own place for the
party, there are lesser or no restrictions at all compared to hosting a party at a
particular venue. In this setting, you are fully in charge of the event which gives
you more freedom to decide what types of activities to do and how long the party
can last.

Suggestions: (Anh chị chọn 2,3 trong các ý này rồi triển khai thêm ra)
1. In this busy, expensive life, television is an easy and cheap source of
entertainment.
2. By watching international news, we are kept informed and up-to-date with
breaking news around the world.
3. Some shows and channels (like Discovery) offer educational programs that can
increase our knowledge and make us more aware of the world around us.
4. Do-it-yourself shows give us easy access to all kinds of information: Cooking
channels offer new recipes and methods, home improvement shows introduce
us to many money-saving DIY tips, and financial advisers give advice for
managing finances and investing money, for example. Television can also be a
good way to help people learn a different language.
5. Some shows can motivate people who are interested in that field and help them
to pursue their dreams.
6. Television can help you feel less lonely. Psychologists coined the term "social
surrogacy" to explain how television can fill the shoes of absent friends or
family. In one study published in the Journal of Experimental Social
7. Psychology, researchers found that people who watch a favorite TV show
report feeling less lonely during the show.
7. TV can expand your mind. Some shows let you travel vicariously and teach
you about different people, cultures, ideas, and places you might never
encounter in real life. Watching a variety of shows might give us a broader
understanding of the world we live in and expose us to things we might
otherwise never come across in our own lives.
8. TV can make you feel like part of a group and let you participate in a shared
subculture. In social situations where you may find yourself surrounded by
strangers with whom you have nothing in common, a popular show or
televised sporting event might give you something to talk about.
9. Gathering around the television gives families, friends, and strangers
something to bond over. Even if you're not interested in the Olympics,
watching the games with your family might bring you closer together;
reminiscing about shows you've watched together gives you shared history and
memories.
10. There may be certain health benefits to watching television. If a certain show
makes you laugh, for example, then an argument can be made for its mood-
elevating merits. While exercising, television can distract you from what you're
doing and therefore enable you to last longer on the treadmill (there's a good
reason why so many gyms have televisions, after all!). One study found that
people felt more energetic after watching nature scenes.
TOPIC 6
Part 1
1. Do you enjoy watching tv?
I don't really enjoy watching TV all that much. I like older TV sitcoms, but they
hardly ever put them on air any more. I also don't care for reality television or the
majority of music videos that are played nowadays. I also find the news to be very
depressing.
2. What is your favourite TV program? Why?
The program I like most is the News at 7 p.m on VTV3. The reason why I like this
program is that it’s very informative. It seems to be a “window to the world” with me.
By watching it, I can learn about many things that are happening in the world without
going there. Thanks to the News, I can proudly say I am not just a “frog in the well”.
3. Do you dislike watching any program on TV? Which one? Why? (Câu này anh

I’m an outdoor person who loves taking part in activities in the nature. That’s why my
favorite kind of weather is sunny weather. On a warm sunny day, I just find it hard to
resist the temptation of a picnic in the park.
5. Do you think weather can affect people’s mood?
I certainly think weather can have a significant influence on how we feel. While
warm and sunny weather often makes people feel happy and energetic, cold and rainy
weather can provoke negative feelings such as frustration or depression.

1. Through the laptop, you can do your work anywhere you want. Due to the Wi-Fi
facilities, people can use the internet for communicating with the people around the
work.
2. Through the laptop, you can check your email; can communicate with the people
around the world, and even you are travelling to another country or other city of the
country. You can use the laptop.

6. The computer is perfect thing to use because in the offices people use the computer
through which companies get progress. It is very important to utilize the computer in
the office for the progress of the company.
9. 7. Computer helps to do the work of graphic and operate the high-resolution software
that are not compatible with the laptop configuration.
8. The computer is the basic thing through which children and people started to learn
this process of the computer and learn about the basic thing on the computer. You can
also use the dvd room in the computer for watching the films and hearing the songs.
9. By using the computer, you can do online shopping by sitting at your home. Those
were the days, when people use to go on the market for purchasing each and
everything. However, due to the online shopping system, it has become very easy for
the people to purchase the any kind of product from the different website from around
the world. In a few days, those things will be at your door. People are using this
online secure shopping system even for purchasing the vegetable and fruits as well.
10. By using the computer, you can get the information about anything around the
world. You can watch the videos of different countries. Here are the many websites
available who is providing the different dramas, film and event videos of the world.
Each thing is away from one click just. However, you can reach it by using the
computer.
Part 3:
- It cultivates social skills.
Group classes require peer interaction and communication, which encourage
teamwork, as children must collaborate to create a crescendo or an accelerando. If a
child is playing his instrument too loudly or speeding up too quickly, he'll need to
adjust. It's important for children to know and understand their individual part in a
larger ensemble, Regester says. Music Rhapsody offers general music education
classes, in which teachers split students into groups and assign each child a task.
Whether a team is responsible for choosing instruments or creating a melody,
students work toward a common goal. "These are the kinds of experiences we have in
society," Kleiner says. "We need more group interaction and problem solving."
- It refines discipline and patience.
10. Learning an instrument teaches children about delayed gratification. The violin, for
example, has a steep learning curve. Before you can make a single sound, you must
first learn how to hold the violin, how to hold the bow, and where to place your feet,
Larew says. Playing an instrument teaches kids to persevere through hours, months,
and sometimes years of practice before they reach specific goals, such as performing
with a band or memorizing a solo piece. "Private lessons and practicing at home
require a very focused kind of attention for even 10 minutes at a time," Larew says.
Group lessons, in which students learn to play the same instruments in an ensemble,
also improve patience, as children must wait their turn to play individually. And in
waiting for their turns and listening to their classmates play, kids learn to show their
peers respect, to sit still and be quiet for designated periods of time, and to be
attentive.
- It boosts self-esteem.
Lessons offer a forum where children can learn to accept and give constructive
criticism. Turning negative feedback into positive change helps build self-confidence,
Regester says. Group lessons, in particular, may help children understand that
nobody, including themselves or their peers, is perfect, and that everyone has room
for improvement. "Presenting yourself in public is an important skill whether you
become a professional musician or not," Larew says. This skill is easily transferrable
to public speaking, she adds. And, of course, once a child is advanced enough, she'll
possess musical skills that will help her stand out.
TOPIC 1
Part 1
1. What are your hobbies?
11. Everyone has his own hobbies and I am either. The hobby I like best is doing hand-
made things. I would like to search and learn how to do some small crafts such as
paper flowers, cards or leather bracelets. These things will teach you detail-oriented
and very patient in your work. Another hobby I also spend a lot of time on it is doing
gardening. My family has a small garden where I plant some little trees and flowers.
Some of them were bought from the market while others were given by my friends.
Every morning, I love watching them very much. How relaxed I am. One more hobby
I’d like to mention here is singing karaoke. After stressful working time, I and my
entire family sing together. It’s so interesting when you can enjoy your own voice
though it’s not very good. Last but not least, watching brain games is also my
interest. It really helps to improve my mind.
2. Do you listen to music? If no, why not? If yes, what kinds of music do you like
best? Why?
I am very fond of music. I like all types of music, but my favorite type of music is
Vietnamese lyrical music. I like to listen to sad songs because I feel that I can relate
to them. My life has not worked according to the plan and I have been sad for most
part of my life. So I think that those songs are made for me.
I like the those lyrical songs because they are in my native language and the music in
those songs is very good. Whenever I am very sad I play the songs so that I could feel
sadder. I know it seems weird but I kind of like it when a song is telling my story. I
also listen to sad songs when I am riding my motorbike and my time is spent in a
very good manner.
3. Do you watch movies? If no, why not? If yes, what kinds of movies do you like
best? Why?
Speaking of films, yes, I am a big fan of all types of films. I am really interested in
comedy, action, romance and sometimes science – fiction.
4. What do you do?
5. What do you like about your job?
6. Is there anything you don’t like about your job?

BY TRAIN
1. More Luggage
Traveling by train is often the preferred modes of travel when one needs to go long
distances. Although, the advantage of train travel is that it can facilitate the
transportation of larger and heavier luggage pieces, compared to planes - even if the
dimensions of the luggage do not fit the other transportation alternatives.
12. 2. Use time more Productively
While you are travelling by train instead of cars and other wheeled vehicles, you have
an opportunity to work or do other things. You can read, watch the landscapes, write,
design, contemplate about things in life the same way our ancestors did, talk to other
passengers you would have never met otherwise, or enjoy a train picnic with family
and/or friends.
3. Safety First
In terms of accidents and breakdowns, railways are the safest form of transport
4. Best Value for Money
Compared to other transport alternatives traveling by rail offers the best value for
money.
5. Helping the Planet
Last but not least is it a more sustainable travel mode compared to cars and planes.
6. Enjoy the view much more easier
With its slow speed, it would be really easy to capture the moments, pictures and
enjoy the breath-taking views more.
Part 3:
Sure, it's nice to stay home and curl up on the couch with a good movie. However,
I'm a big believer that nothing matches the experience of seeing a movie in the
theater. Some people like to complain about the annoyances of theatergoing (the
lines, the ticket prices, the idiot who takes a call on his cell phone during the flick,
etc.). When you stop and think about it, though, the benefits of heading into your
local cinema far outweigh the negatives. In that spirit, here are ten really good
reasons to go to the movies:
1. You could never get a screen that big at home. Over the years, I've seen the
occasional multiplex auditorium with a postage stamp-sized screen. Most theaters
offer screens much better than that, though. There isn't a flatscreen HDTV anywhere
that's as big as the even smallest screen at your local movie house. And even if you
could get one that big, you probably don't have a wall in your home big enough to
accommodate it.
2. Volume is not an issue. In the cinema, they crank the volume up nice and loud -
the way it was meant to be - and there's nothing anyone can do about it.
3. The popcorn is much better. There are some good varieties of microwave
popcorn available on the market. None of them taste as good as the stuff you get at a
movie theater. And air poppers? Forget about it. At the theater, you're really getting
bags of edible gold. Edible, mouth-watering gold.
4. The presence of other people adds to the experience. For the most part, sharing
the movie-watching experience with others only adds to the fun. Comedies are
funnier when a hundred people are laughing together. Horror movies are scarier when
everyone screams in unison.
13. 5. Lobbies are cool. Walk into the lobby of any multiplex and what do you see?
Posters on the walls, banners hanging from the ceiling, enormous cardboard cutouts
all over the place, and multi-colored neon shining from every available surface.
Seriously, I go to the movies half an hour early, just so I can hang out in the lobby for
a while.
6. It's good for the economy. Ticket prices might be more expensive than ever, but
going to the movies is still much cheaper than going to a concert, or a play, or an
amusement park. That said, please remember that spending money helps the
economy, and in case you hadn't heard, we're in a recession! Open those wallets and
help us restore things to normal!
7. Moviegoing is magic. All kidding aside, you're more likely to be affected by a
film's mojo if you see it theatrically. At home, you might be inclined to pick up the
phone if it rings, or throw in a load of laundry while you watch, or hit the pause
button for a potty break. At a theater, you block out all the outside distractions and
simply sit. Watching a movie uninterrupted allows you to be more fully transported
into its world. That's what movies are all about - escaping from reality for two hours.
It only makes sense to give yourself the freedom of forgetting about all the other stuff
for a while. You've earned it.
TOPIC 3:
Part 1:
14. 1. What do you like most about Vietnamese culture?
Vietnam, absolutely, has numerous great things. However, the things I like most is
probably FOOD. There is no where else in the world I can find this special taste of
food. Off and on, I go out to eat in a fancy restaurant, but then I soon realize that only
Vietnamese food is the only one thing I never get sick of.
2. What is considered rude in your culture?
- Do not touch someone's head or pass anything over someone’s head. Items should
be passed with both hands. Don't point or use your index finger to get someone's
attention. That is how people call animals. Don't point with your feet either.
Summoning a person with a hand or finger in the upright position is reserved only for
animals or inferior people. Between two equal people it is a provocation. To summon
a person, the entire hand with the fingers facing down is the only appropriate hand
signal and even doing than can sometimes cause offense.
- Insults to elders or ancestors are very serious offense and can lead to severed social
ties. Also: Do not point with your finger - use your hand. Do not stand with your
hands on your hips. Do not cross your arms on your chest. Do not touch anyone on
the shoulder.
- Patting a person's back, especially a senior or someone of higher status, pointing to
other people while talking, or putting one's feet on a table or sitting on a desk while
talking are all rude and disrespectful. Winking is regarded as indecent, especially
when directed at people of the opposite sex.
3. If a group of foreign people just came to Vietnam, what advice would you give to
them?
- Don’t be too defensive if Vietnamese people ask about your age, marriage status and
in come . This is normal social questions even for the first time meeting. You don’t
have to answer if you don’t want to and explain nicely why.
- When you are senior travel to Vietnam and you will often see local try to hold your
hands, or help you cross the street , stand up from your chair it doesn’t mean that you
look too old or weak to do this by yourself or they try to touch you but This shows
the respect from the younger Vietnamese to the elderly.
- Be prepare that Vietnamese loves to touch western kids including toddlers and
children up to 8-9 to show how much they like your kids.
- They are amazed with the western fair complexion , blonde hair, big round blue
eyes etc. If you don’t want your kids to be touched by strangers and this happen often
when walking in to market or shopping malls then you can explain to them too.
- When a Vietnamese make a mistake and he/she is told you will often see them
smile. Don’t be angry when you complain to a Vietnamese and receive a smiling face
instead of an apology.
- They smile because of they feel embarrassed and mostly they don’t know how to
respond.
- The Vietnamese don’t want to admit that they don’t understand after you repeat
twice already.
- The Vietnamese would love to get you to try some of their authentic food or drink
which you might not want to try. So you can refuse nicely and don’t be polite in this
situation and you don’t have to feel bad about this.
15. - If you have a Vietnamese friend and he/she takes you to visit their parents, you
will be offered hot tea (even though it is hot and humid) when you arrive and then
the parents will often ask you to go for a face wash or a shower.
4. Would you like a laptop computer or a desktop computer?
- I would say definitely laptops. They are so very easy. You can carry them wherever
you want to and do whatever you want to. I being a writer, it is very important for me
to be able to move out of places and laptops do provide me with that freedom.
- I like desktops more than laptops. The reason being they ensure that work is not
carried forward to home. I did had laptop earlier but with that it became so much
more easy for me to do work even at home leaving me no time for my loved ones.
So, I like desktops as when you sit there you know that you are there for work
and once you are out of it, you can live life.
5. Do you use computer to studying English? How?
Of course, it’s the best way to learn English. There are thousands of videos out there
teaching English online. I don’t need to go anywhere, just sitting down, having a cup
of hot tea and listening to those lectures. Moreover, it is really easy to look up the
words you don’t know with an online dictionary.
6. What else do you use your computer for? (Các anh chị tự trả lời)
Part 2:
BY BUS
Better use of personal time
Using the bus instead of driving frees up time to do something that you enjoy. Use
your journey to catch up on emails, text your mates, read the paper or do the
latest Sudoku challenge. Or simply relax, let someone else do the driving, and plan
for the day ahead.
Faster end to end journeys
Prioritised traffic lights and dedicated bus lanes on main routes allow buses to get
through the city quickly. Buses with few stopping points are often just as quick as the
car. Buses also help to reduce congestion on key routes by taking more cars off the
road.
Low cost
Using the bus is an economical way of travelling if you compare ticket costs with the
true cost of motoring. This is especially true if you buy multi-purchase or season
tickets.
Roads are expensive pieces of infrastructure. One bus can do the job of 40 cars and
significantly reduce the demand for road improvements.
Convenience
With a pedestrianised city centre, the bus can often get you much closer to where you
want to be than a car. This is especially useful in bad weather or when carrying heavy
bags. York has five main bus interchange points in the city centre.
With the latest bus information technology at your fingertips, you can spend more
time doing what you want - whether that's more time at work, in the pub, in the bath,
or in bed - rather than waiting for a bus. Find out more about the yournextbus
service.
16. Economic growth
Using the bus helps to cut congestion which is a serious constraint on growth and
costly to the economy. Reducing congestion in the city also improves the ambience of
our streets and our general quality of life.
Reduced greenhouse gases
An increase in the use of public transport results in less pollution and better air
quality. Just one person opting to take the bus rather than drive to work every day can
reduce their carbon footprint by up to 3.8 tonnes per year!
Part 3:
Outdoor Play Encourages Creativity
Outdoor Play encourages creativity in children. Every time a child steps outside, he
or she has the chance to experience something new and see the world in a different
perspective. While playing outside, kids find the opportunity to search and explore
the environment. They see, smell, hear and touch new things they can’t experience
