The GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) is a free and open-source raster graphics editor used to edit images, currently in version 2.7 beta. It was started in 1995 and became part of the GNU Project in 1997. It supports many image formats and has plug-ins for additional functionality. It is available for Linux, Windows, and Mac OS X.
