Deliverable 4.1:
Training of developers of intergenerational learning
2
Training of developers of intergenerational learning
Fundación Esplai (P1) is responsible for the Youth blended Learning path
(Workpackage 4).
Fundación Esplai, in collaboration with Reflective learning (Workpackage 5),
and in order to achieve a common and homogeneous training process,
worked together the whole eScouts Blended Learning path. As a result, we
achieved a really complete facilitators training where the whole process
made sense.
Workshop in Barcelona: Facilitators training
In this way, the 24th and 25th October 2011 Fundación Esplai, in
collaboration with Reflective Learning, was in charge of facilitators’ face to
face training, in which we worked the following points:
- Characteristics of the eScouts projects. Learning path, methodologies,
main actors, schedule…
- Skills and tools to help in facilitation.
- Senior adults training. Guidelines and tools.
- Youth training. Guidelines and tools.
- Training process. Learning program designs and contextualization of
trainings.
- Moodle platform and its uses.
The main goal of the BCN workshop was that European efacilitators become
familiar with the eScouts methodology, training modules, platform uses and
hints, facilitation issues and documentation to be used during the training
process. Facilitators could also profit this meeting to meet other European
colleagues who would be working in national workshops in the partner
countries.
These 16-hours-workshop was held in Barcelona and 12 facilitators
participated in it. A couple of professionals of each country participated in
the pilot process.
During this Workshop in Barcelona, everything was shared and explained
(included written materials) in English, in order to guarantee that everyone
could understand the basis of the project.
3
Tool and guidelines
Facilitators got all the material printed, and after the training, Fundación
Esplai uploaded all used material and some extra documentation in the
eScouts Moodle platform, under a section called ‘Facilitators training’ >
‘Workshop in Barcelona’.
Guidelines and tools provided during the facilitators’ face-to-face training
were used during those sessions, so that facilitators became familiar with
this material.
Hereunder there is the list of the written materials used during the
facilitators’ face-to-face training sessions including developed activities,
hints…
eScouts project information
In this section, facilitators could find all generic information about eScouts
project and its methodologies:
- eScouts project presentation

eScouts training docs
In this section, facilitators could find information about training modules
and some examples that Reflective Learning and Fundación Esplai prepared
for facilitators during the Workshop in Barcelona.
- Materials related to Senior adults training modules:
4
o Facilitator training discovery activity
o eScouts_Learning resources

Apart from the materials developed for the Workshop in Barcelona,
Fundación Esplai worked on a virtual platform where, from October 2011 to
the end of the pilot training phase, facilitators could find everything related
to eScouts training process.
Virtual advising was given through two forums: 1) “News”, specific to get
facilitators informed about relevant news that overcame in the eScouts
project; 2) “Facilitators’ Forum”, to give them a specific place to share their
daily experience with the rest of their colleagues.
5
Annex
Annex to this document it’s attached the invitation that it was send to
facilitators before the training and the Agenda of the Workshop in
Barcelona.
In Moodle eScouts platform, section Workpackage 4, section ‘Module 1 -
Facilitators training’ it’s uploaded everything related to Facilitators training
in Barcelona.
The whole detailed information is uploaded and available for the
partnership and facilitators in ‘Facilitator's Training section’ > ‘Workshop in
Barcelona’:
http://platform.escouts.eu/course/view.php?id=15
At the end of this section there are also uploaded some photos from this
Workshop in Barcelona.
AN INVITATION
to
The e-Facilitator Training Event
L’Esplai, 24th-25th, October, 2011
Hello everyone. Greetings from Alba and Tony. We will be working with you when you come to Spain.
Hi. Hi.
I am ALBA I am TONY
We are looking forward to seeing you all.
1.0 THE PROGRAMME
1.1 It will last for two whole days 09:00hrs - 17-30/18:00hrs.
1.2 Alba and I will deliver the programme in English. We understand that listening to, and
talking in English may be difficult for some of you. Please do not get anxious about
this. There will be others in the room who will be able to help you follow the
programme and get a lot from participating in it.
1.3 There will be breaks for coffee & lunch. In the evenings you are free to choose where
you eat and who you eat with.
1.4 We are aware that being part of an EU project may be new to some/all of you. So we
will explain what the e-scouts project is all about.
1.5 The role of e-facilitator may also be new. Again we will explain this role and give you
lots of opportunities to talk about it with your country partner and with others in the
group.
1.6 The programme is a blend of listening to presentations, (which will be illustrated using
Powerpoint) and doing things, (activities with your country partner). At this time you
will be able to talk in your prefered language, sharing thoughts and conclusions.
1.7 During the programme we will be inviting some of the project partners to speak about
specific aspects of the project and the role of facilitation.
2.0 THE AIM OF THE PROJECT
2.1 The project has two main aims. They are to develop:
2.1.1 Older adult digital competences, by using trained young people.
2.1.2 Social and work skills in the youth, through getting mentoring from trained
older adults.
2.2 This is why this is an ‘inter-generational’ project.
2.3 The role of the e-facilitators is to make sure the youth and the older adults have the
best opportunity possible to learn from each other and to develop new knowledge and
skills.
3.0 FACILITATING WELL and WORKING ETHICALLY
3.1 We will explain to you that everyone involved in the project has specific roles and
responsibilities. One important responsibility is to keep records of all project activities
and to write reports about them.
3.2 Part of working well is to try to plan and deliver each of training session WITH your
partner e-facilitator. In doing this, you may have more fun, come up with (even) better
ideas and be able to evaluate each session more accurately.
3.3 During the programme we will be giving you materials, that you can use or modify, to
help you plan, deliver and evaluate each session.
3.4 A very important part of your responsibility as an e-facilitator is to make sure that all
face-to-face activities, in your country, are delivered in an ethical way. This means
that the youth and older adults need to fully understand what it is they are being
invited to do and why. They have to be given the right to non-participate in particular
activities if they wish. It also means that all social interactions have to be sensitive,
empathetic and appropriate to the needs of your groups. We will talk about ‘acting
ethically’ on the first morning of the programme.
3.5 We will also be talking to you about different ways to keep participation and
attendance in the project high. There is always a danger of drop-out.
Alba and Tony look forward to welcoming you in Barcelona
.

Again we will explain this role and give you lots of opportunities to talk about it with your country partner and with others in the group. 1.6 The programme is a blend of listening to presentations, (which will be illustrated using Powerpoint) and doing things, (activities with your country partner). At this time you will be able to talk in your prefered language, sharing thoughts and conclusions. 1.7 During the programme we will be inviting some of the project partners to speak about specific aspects of the project and the role of facilitation. 2.0 THE AIM OF THE PROJECT 2.1 The project has two main aims. They are to develop: 2.1.1 Older adult digital competences, by using trained young people. 2.1.2 Social and work skills in the youth, through getting mentoring from trained older adults.
  • 7. 2.2 This is why this is an ‘inter-generational’ project. 2.3 The role of the e-facilitators is to make sure the youth and the older adults have the best opportunity possible to learn from each other and to develop new knowledge and skills. 3.0 FACILITATING WELL and WORKING ETHICALLY 3.1 We will explain to you that everyone involved in the project has specific roles and responsibilities. One important responsibility is to keep records of all project activities and to write reports about them. 3.2 Part of working well is to try to plan and deliver each of training session WITH your partner e-facilitator. In doing this, you may have more fun, come up with (even) better ideas and be able to evaluate each session more accurately. 3.3 During the programme we will be giving you materials, that you can use or modify, to help you plan, deliver and evaluate each session. 3.4 A very important part of your responsibility as an e-facilitator is to make sure that all face-to-face activities, in your country, are delivered in an ethical way. This means that the youth and older adults need to fully understand what it is they are being invited to do and why. They have to be given the right to non-participate in particular activities if they wish. It also means that all social interactions have to be sensitive, empathetic and appropriate to the needs of your groups. We will talk about ‘acting ethically’ on the first morning of the programme. 3.5 We will also be talking to you about different ways to keep participation and attendance in the project high. There is always a danger of drop-out. Alba and Tony look forward to welcoming you in Barcelona
