3. Horizontal
• Parallel to the ground

4. Vertical
• Straight up or down

5. Diagonal
• Leaning and is somewhere between a
vertical and horizontal line.

6. Curved
• Bends without straight direction at
any point
Kinds:
Spiral wavy circle

7. Zigzag
• Combining diagonal lines that form
sharp angles that suddenly change
direction.

8. Line Variations
- Long - thickness
- Short - heavy
- Smooth - wide
- Rough
- Continuous
- Broken

9. Shapes
-two dimensional figure enclosed by a
line.
- flat, have only height and width.

10. READ:
• These two paintings show shape in
different ways. Can you tell which
one shows organic shape and which
on shows geometric shape?

11. This photograph of St. Peter's shows
geometric shapes. We can find geometric
shapes mostly in math and architecture.

12. This study of plant by Durer shows great use of
organic shape. We find organic shapes in nature.

13. Kinds of shape:
1.Geometrical Shapes
-precise shapes that look as if they are
made with a ruler or other drawing
tools.

14. 5 basic geometric shapes
1.Square- a four sided polygon characterized by
right angles and sides of equal length.
2. Circle - plane curve everywhere equidistant from
a given fixed point, the center
3. Triangle - closed plane figure having three sides
and three angles
4. Rectangle -a four-sided plane figure with four
right angles.
5. Oval - resembling an egg in shape

15. 2. Organic Shapes
- free form are irregular or uneven.
- outline curve to make free form
shapes.
- found in nature like clouds and leaves.

16. FORM
• Is an element of art that refers to
an object with 3 dimensions.

17. Space
• Is an element of art that refers to
the distance or area between,
around, above, below, and with in
objects.
• Space is an empty place or
surface in or around a work of
art. Space can be two-
dimensional, three-dimensional,
negative and/or positive.

18. Texture
• Surface quality of an object.
• Perceived through touch and sight.

19. 3 kinds of texture:
1.Tactile texture – actual or real texture wich you
can touch and feel when you touch the object
itself.
2. Artificial – refers to human made surface quality
that is supposed to look and feel likesome
material.
3.Visual – are evoked by a photograph or picture
depicting an object.
-reminds us of how certain objects feel
when they are touched.
