Moulding & Foundry Skills [Standard – 12 to 15 months]
Industrial Applications Apprenticeship
This Standard pathway is designed to meet the
minimum qualification criteria but still provide a
grounding in basic skills, knowledge and
understanding of common foundry practices.
It covers a broad range of basic competencies in
Moulding & Coremaking, Casting, Fettling and Casting
inspection with an emphasis on safe working,
communicating information and achieving the quality
standards expected by the company.
This particular pathway does not require a technical
certificate but there are technical training elements
provided free as part of this course.

Advanced Modern Apprenticeship
This Advanced pathway is designed to first provide a grounding in basic skills, knowledge and
understanding of common foundry practices. During the first 12 months it covers a broad range of
basic competencies in Moulding & Coremaking, Casting, Fettling and Casting inspection with an
emphasis on safe working, communicating information and achieving the quality standards
expected by the company.
This pathway also includes Specialist NVQ assessment at level 3 and a Technical Certificate in the
form of the Diploma in Castings Technology and therefore requires candidates with a higher
technical ability.
