4. Lost in translation
● Cultura politico-costituzionale americana > I° Emendamento:
Il Congresso non promulgherà leggi per il riconoscimento ufficiale di una
religione, o che ne proibiscano la libera professione, o che limitino la libertà
di parola, o di stampa; o il diritto delle persone di riunirsi pacificamente
in assemblea, e di fare petizioni al governo per la riparazione dei torti.
● Niente “ordini”, niente tessere stampa nazionali: è giornalista chi lo fa
● Le shield laws (protezione statutaria delle fonti) al livello federale:
proteggere “chi produce giornalismo”, non “i giornalisti”.
● In ogni caso si tratta di scelta, non di “legge”
(non tutto ciò che è legale è anche giusto - e viceversa)
5. Lost in translation
● Mancano i ruoli, i concetti. Es.: come tradurre reporting/editing?
● Che si intende per “etica professionale”, “giornalismo etico”?
● Non giornalismo che ha fini edificanti…
● ...giornalismo svolto in modo eticamente compatibile
● In italiano: “deontologia” e “etica”
● Qui le due cose sono insieme… + concetti che da noi sarebbero
o scelte tecniche di scrittura (es.: citazione delle fonti, virgolettati)
o di organizzazione redazionale
o di opportunità
● Codici associativi, di testata; assai più stringenti delle nostre norme
giuridiche o para-giuridiche

necessario, ne informa il CDR. In ogni caso il Garante si asterrà dell'emettere giudizi di valore sul lavoro dei giornalisti e sulla loro
professionalità, [Patto sui diritti e i doveri dei giornalisti di Repubblica - 1990]
