There was a king called Achashverosh, who ruled over 127
countries

He made a huge party lasting 180 days for everyone

And one for 7 days for just his close friends

Achashverosh had quite a lot to drink…

And he asked his wife Vashti to come to the party

She refused

Bad mistake

Achashverosh was rather lonely

So wanted to find a new wife

They organised a beauty pageant, forcing girls from all over
the kingdom to come to find a new wife

They had a year of beauty treatments

Esther got married to Achashverosh

And was crowned queen

She kept her Jewish identity hidden, but still kept Kosher and
Shabbat in the palace

Mordechai overheard Bigtan and Teresh plotting to kill
Achashverosh

Haman was promoted to be prime minister

He made everyone bow down to him

But Mordechai refused

Because he was Jewish

Haman got very, very angry because of this…

And paid Achashverosh to be allowed to kill all of the Jews

They posted letters to all the empire with details of the plot

Mordechai discovered the plan to kill the Jews

He told Esther about the plan

Esther was worried about going to see Achashverosh

They gathered all of the Jews to pray

Esther dressed in her royal clothes to speak to Achashverosh

She invited Achashverosh and Haman to a party

31. To discuss her wishes to save the Jews

At the party she invited Achashverosh and Haman back to
another party

Haman is delighted to be invited to the party…

But when he saw Mordechai he decided to kill him, and built
a gallows to hang him on

Achashverosh couldn't sleep one night…

And asked to read the Book of Chronicles, and realised he
hadn’t repaid Mordechai for saving his life

Achashverosh asked Haman how to reward someone.
Haman doesn’t know he is speaking about Mordechai

Mordechai rode the King’s horse through town, wearing
royal robes, as the reward

Haman went home, realising that he has started to fall
against the Jews

They all went to the second party

And Esther revealed she is Jewish, and that Haman wants to
kill her as well

Achashverosh got very angry at Haman

Achashverosh had Haman hung, on the gallows he built for
Mordechai

Afterwards Mordechai is made Prime Minister

However the decree to kill the Jews still stood

They got permission from Achashverosh to defend
themselves

47. And they prayed to Hashem for help

They rushed out messages to the Jews

Mordechai became famous and feared

The Jews were overjoyed at the turn of events

It was like a fight between David and Goliath…

Mordechai wrote letters to all of the Jews telling them of the
miracles
