2. Gateway of India
• The Gateway of India is a monument
built during the British Raj in mumbai
(formerly Bombay), India
• It is located on the waterfront in
the Apollo Bunder area, South
Mumbai and overlooks the Arabian Sea.
• It is the place where the viceroys and
governors used to land upon their
arrival in India.
3. Bazaars Mumba Devi
• The Mumba Devi Temple was first built
in Bori Bunder in 1675. Bazaars
Mumba devi is an old Hindu temple in
the city of Mumbai, dedicated to the
goddess Mumbā.
• The Mumbadevi road is to the right
from the northern end of Zaveri Bazaar.
• According to a legend, Mumbadevi, an
eight-armed Goddess, was sent by
'Lord Brahma' to vanquish an evil
demon known as 'Mumbaraka’.
4. Get High on Qawwalis
• If you want to see what Mumbaikars
listen to apart from their regular dose
of Bollywood beats, visit Haji Ali
Dargah.
• Let Sikandar Shad and his band of
Qawwals enthrall you with their
performance as the setting sun brings
respite from Mumbai’s humid heat.
• Watch them unleash the Sufi in them
on Sunday, Monday, Thursday and
Friday from 4 pm to 8 pm.
5. Take a Walk Down Marin Drive
• Mumbai’s sea-facing road has been
made famous by many a Bollywood
movie.
• Walk down the wide pedestrian path
by 5pm and you can see one of the
most beautiful sunsets and a city that
simultaneously lights up after it.
• Of course, with its pros, come the cons.
You will have to ignore young and old
couples alike getting cozy by the
promenade, but that’s okay.
6. Gallops Breakfast on Race day
• This open-air restaurant, within the
lush green Race Course, opens at the
crack of dawn.
• The menu is simple and inexpensive.
Muffins, eggs to order, Melba toast and
tea are some of the items available.
7. Offer a Kidney or a Lung
• Don’t panic. I am talking about
Mumbai’s habit of offering miniature
body parts and other stuff made of
paraffin wax at Mount Mary Church in
Bandra.
• Legend goes that those who offer wax
replicas of what they want at the
church and pray for the same, the
wishes get fulfilled.
8. Sundays Chowpatty at Dusk and Pani Puri
• For the real Chowpatty Beach
experience, come at dusk and stay on
for the ... bhelpuri (puffed rice with
veggies) and the fried potato puffs
called pani puri.
9. Bollywood Calling
• Mumbai is proud to have a highly
acclaimed hindi film industry.
• It intend to give a better perspective of
the history, technical and creative art
of film making in India to the guests
(tourists).
10. Ganesh Temple
• The Shree Siddhivinayak Ganapati
Mandir is a Hindu temple dedicated to
Lord Shri Ganesh
• The 2550 sq m temple complex had
two 3.6 m Deepamalas, a rest house
and living quarters for the caretaker.
11. Sail the High Seas of Mumbai
• What’s the point of visiting Mumbai if
you haven’t been to sea! You can catch
a ferry at the Gateway of India for a 30
minute ride along the coast or take a
day off and sail off to adore the famed
rock-cut sculptures at Elephanta Caves
on Gharapuri Island.
• The Elephanta Trip will take at least
half a day, but if you are in a hurry, you
can get a good view of the vast coast in
the 30 minute ferry ride as well!
12. Thank You!!!
