Canesten Clotrimazole Cream is a broad
spectrum anti-fungal used on the skin to
treat and soothe fungal skin conditions such
as Tinea pedis (athlete's foot), External
symptoms of thrush, Jock itch, Fungally
infected nappy rash, Ringworm, Fungal skin
rash and Fungally infected eczema or
dermatitis.

Active Ingredient
The active ingredient present in
Canesten Clotrimazole Cream
is Clotrimazole.
It is available in tubes of 15 grams.
Each gram contains Clotrimazole I.P.
10 mg., Benzyl Alcohol 1% w/w, water
miscible base q.s.

Recommended Dosage
A small amount of
Canesten Clotrimazole Cream
should be applied thinly and evenly
with gentle rubbing to the affected
and surrounding skin areas twice
daily, in the morning and evening.

5. Canesten Clotrimazole Cream
Duration of Therapy
The duration of therapy varies and depends on the
extent and localization of the disease. Clinical
improvement with relief of pruritus usually occurs
within the first week of treatment.
Tinea infections require approximately 3 to 4
weeks of therapy; in candidiasis, 1 to 2 weeks
treatment is often adequate.
Use until inflammation, itching and redness have
subsided and for 14 days after symptoms
disappear to avoid recurrence of the infection.

Missed Dose
If you forget an application, apply
some ointment as soon as you
remember.
However, if you remember when it is
almost time for your next dose, take
only your usual dose at that time.

Contraindications
Canesten Clotrimazole Cream is
contraindicated in the following cases:
➔Known hypersensitivity to Clotrimazole or
any inactive ingredients of this medication.
➔Skin on the area to be treated is cracked
or broken
➔You have a viral skin infection (such as
cold sores, shingles or chicken pox) or other
infections of the skin
➔You have a reaction of the skin resulting
from a vaccination.

Storage Instructions
Canesten Clotrimazole Cream may be
stored in a cool dry place (below 25°C).
Do not store in the bathroom or near a
sink. Do not freeze. Keep away from
children.

Side Effects of Clotrimazole Cream
The most commonly reported side effects are
Erythema, stinging, blistering, peeling,edema,
pruritus, urticaria and general irritation of the
skin.
Inform your doctor immediately if you
notice any of the following:
Slight stinging sensation, Skin reactions
(such as hypersensitivity reactions e.g.
burning, stinging, swelling or redness)
