The editing process of ‘Tarot’
Tiarnan ‘Keep it clean’ Greene
Transitioning and Music
This feature causes a
fade transition so the
narrative can continue
slowly without a sudden
cut.
This is the music which
plays during the
opening sequence, we
are able to edit around
the song so it fits in
with the narrative of
our opening. We also
made it fade out near
the end just as the
knife goes into the
table to create a
shocking effect
Transitioning and Sound
This is what will
happen during the
transitioning
where it will fade
from the skull shot
to the character
walking around
the table.
For the sound we
wanted it to be
quieter since we
thought it fit better
with the title
sequence what we
did was lower the
volume control to a
volume that would
suit the product.
Search Clips and tones
This allowed us
to search for the
shots we need,
which made it
easier to see if
certain shots
have been
added in, edited
correctly or
taken out if we
no longer
needed them
For certain shots
we were able to
add a tone over
the top to create a
darker movie,
which matched
the mood it tried
to create. For
example, this shot
we lowered the
brightness so it
was able to match
the darker tone of
the rest of the
shot.
Text and shots
This is text
which will
be overlaid
on the
image being
shown so
that I can
create
credits for
my title
sequence
These shots are
all the shots
which will be
included in the
final product,
With this I am
able to add
shots into the
product add
music, and
roughly cut
some of the
shots down for
the product.
Overlaid image and sound
By moving a shot
above another
shot, it allows me
to overlay a shot
over the top, this
is so that I was
able to show
what the priest
character was
looking at during
the product, and
by decreasing
and increasing its
opacity I can
choose how
much of the
overlaid shot you
can see.
After lowering the
volume on one part of
the song, we decided
to ‘razor’ it and
increase the volume
control. The razor
command allows me to
split part of the sound
so that I can edit part
of the song without it
having an effect on
another part of the
sound
Moving the shot and Sound This circle in the
middle of the shot
allows me to move
the shot around, so I
am able to move the
shot from the centre
of the screen, rotate
it, flip the shot or
make it small, Like
what was done for
this shot.
The parts of the song
were split so that
during the distorted
shot, so that the song
was not affected and
could resume after the
shot.
These sound clips
are of me talking,
because the shot
was filmed
separately with will
speaking, I was
then able to time it
and record my
lines, so that they
were clear to the
audience with
what is happening
at this stage of the
movie.
Distorted Shot
This shot was abled to be
distorted by adding a ‘Film
Noir’ effect to create the odd
colouring, the fun house shot
which distorted the shot and a
flash which was matched along
with the heartbeat sound
effect.
Sound During Distorted shot
My sound of the confession is also
distorted, by adding an
underwater effect and lowered
the tempo, this was so you
couldn’t hear my character and to
show the priest, who should care
for others, only listens to himself.
The radio static was added to show that the priest
does not listen to anything else but himself. After he is
woken by the man confessing, the static starts once
again, to show he is again no longer listening.
