This document provides instructions for creating a butterfly logo in CorelDRAW. It explains how to set up a new 5 inch by 5 inch document, draw the wings using the Artistic Media and Shape tools, duplicate and mirror one wing to create the other, and add the body and other details using various drawing tools. 1. Creating a logo
Welcome to CorelDRAW®, a comprehensive vector-based drawing and graphic-design program for the graphics

In this tutorial, you will create a logo based on a butterfly. This is what the final logo will look like:

2. Setting up the drawing
To start making the logo, you will first create a new document and set the page size.
To set up the drawing

Click File
New.

In the Create a New Document dialog box, type 5 in the Width and Height boxes, ensure that inches is
selected as the unit of measurement, and click OK.
Drawing the butterfly
To draw the first butterfly wing, you will use the Artistic Media tool to give the logo a playful, hand-drawn feel.
You will then fine-tune the wings with the Shape tool by manipulating the nodes in the Artistic Media stroke. You
will also duplicate and mirror the Artistic Media stroke to create the second wing.
To draw the butterfly wing

From the Zoom levels list box on the property bar, choose To width.

In the toolbox, click the Artistic media tool

From the Preset stroke list list box on the property bar, choose a stroke that is tapered at both ends

In the Stroke width box, type .177.

On the color palette, click a Red color swatch.

Drag in the drawing window to create one of the butterfly wings.
To fine-tune the butterfly wing

Click the Shape tool

Drag any node in the stroke to modify the butterfly wing to your liking.

3. To duplicate the butterfly wing

Click the Pick tool

Click Edit

In the Duplicate offset dialog box, type 0 in the Horizontal offset and Vertical offset boxes, and click OK.

If the Duplicate offset dialog box does not appear, click Tools

4. To draw the body of the butterfly

From the Preset stroke list list box on the property bar, choose the stroke that is tapered at one end and flat
at the other

Now, you’ll add the head. In between the two wings, draw a circle that is approximately centered between
the wings.

Now you’ll add the body by drawing an ellipse below the head.
