EXPERIENCE
08/2014 - present Plan International – Regional Director for the Americas – Panama
Responsible for developing and implementing a regional strategy - focusing on
Innovation, Income and Impact - for the Americas in 12 countries in South and
Central America and the Caribbean. 2000 staff and a budget of US$100M. An
important element is the development of our country operations towards strong
members of local civil society, including engaging local governments and local
donors while securing sustainable income levels for all countries.
02/2011–07/2014 Plan International – Deputy CEO – Woking, UK
Responsible for Plan’s international program development, implementation and
evaluation in 50 Countries. 9 direct reports. 8000 staff. Budget E450 million.
Established various strategic partnerships and global coalitions. A successful
example is S4YE (www.s4ye.org) the Global Coalition for Youth Employment
Solutions. (With World Bank, Accenture and a growing group of NGO’s and
private sector companies).
11/2006–01/2011 Plan Netherlands: CEO – Amsterdam, Netherlands
Responsible for Profit and Loss and re-positioning of organization in the
Netherlands, campaigning for the rights of children with a focus on girls. 85 staff,
turn over 50 million Euro. Successfully established the Dutch Child Rights
Coalition and developed and led a new Girl Power Coalition, with ECPAT/DCI
amongst others. Obtained a 60M Dutch Government Funding Framework
agreement, promoting equal rights for girls and boys, while combatting all forms of
abuse of girls.
12/2004 -11/2006 War Child Holland – Amsterdam, Netherlands
Director of International Programs. Responsible for program development and
program management in 13 countries; 500 staff. Overall budget Euro 12 million.
Successfully established a new strategic plan and program framework for this
relatively small but high impact NGO working for children affected by conflict.
