1. I am an indentured Fitter and Machinist, before moving in the Roll Design Office as a
Draughtsman, this position involved servicing the Rolling Mills, Roll Shop & Mill Service
Shop to improve production outputs.
During my time working as a Draughtsman I successfully completed my Associate Diploma in
Mechanical Engineering then was promoted to a Development Engineer Projects.
Looking after improvement projects throughout the Rolling Mill working to deadlines and strict
budgets.
I moved into the Steelmaking stream as a Process Controller, this requires a very high level of
analytical planning, attention to detail and negotiations skills. Communicating between
numerous departments to ensure efficiency in production output is maintained.
During this time I successfully completed my Business management Diploma while in charge
of a shift production team at the Casters.
I then held a position at Onesteel as a Maintenance Shift Team Leader at Central Engineering
Maintenance Services group.
In this role I lead a group of trade’s people that serviced all departments throughout OneSteel,
this also included the Iron Duke mine, giving me many years exposure to the mining sector.
In the last 20 years, I have lead numerous projects as a team project controller, often being
seconded from various departments throughout Onesteel to control projects while maintaining
associated budgets, projects from repairing/replacing secondary crushers to getting all overhead
cranes at the BOS up to Australian standard also working closely with planners and leading
teams of specialist trades people, technicians and supervisors.
In a previous position I run the crushing maintenance teams at the Iron Baron Mine site, gaining
valuable experience in the Metso / Masaba crushing and screening plant, I successfully
coordinated the installation and commissioning of a new Metso crushing and screening fixed
plant which services the Onesteel OBP, currently producing 200kt/month.
I was also responsible for maintaining the mobile and fixed crushing and screening plants at the
Iron Baron site.
I organised, prepared, coordinated weekly shutdowns and closely monitor the shut down team’s
progress. Ensuring the crushing plant and people adhere to strict safety and environmental
guidelines.
Over the last 20months I have worked as a project coordinator with Arrium, covering projects
from Iron Baron to Iron Duke. Having held my dogmans ticket for many years and working
closely with GSF cranes and various construction crews, organising and supervising heavy lifts,
has also broadened my knowledge of operating and rigging greatly.
I am an excellent leader, a strong team player and positively influence people due to excellent
communication / negotiation skills; I easily build good relationships wherever I am and work
extremely well in a team environment. I have excellent attention to detail and hold health and
safety in the highest regard. I am computer literate and skilled at using CAD, SAP, Microsoft
excel, word and project.
