                           Communication

                               Variety of Media

Communication to a variety of audiences, for a variety of purposes,
using a variety of media is an essential life skill we must teach our
students (and teachers)

Purpose- persuasion, descriptive, expository, research
But, with new communication tools, people are communicating more
than ever, especially outside of academic contexts.
Who is
                        my
                     Audience?

In the past, we’ve had to imagine our audience and write for these
people who would never actually see our work in most cases.
Who would actually see the work in the end? The teacher (or maybe
few others if the work was exceptional or really bad).
Who is
                       my
                    Audience?

In today’s world we still have think about audience to communicate
our ideas, but there is an essential dierence. . .
The audience can be real and authentic! New technologies are allowing
us and our students to communicate to real, global and participatory
audiences who will feedback, evaluate, and encourage our work
