The presentation for the lecture I gave to undergraduate students at School of International Liberal Studies (SILS), Waseda University.
All thanks to Dr. Peter O'Connor for offering such a invaluable opportunity to express my views on publishing innovation.
As noted in the middle of the presentation, all views and opinions expressed here are strictly personal, and do not represent those of my current employer.

  23. 23. 24 It was not easy to do this process in the past. It needed a lot of resources. But the cost of the process has been dramatically lowered and barriers to entry have been virtually eliminated, thanks to digital technologies. Everybody can be a reporter, producer, writer, even newspaper, and book publisher. This is a good thing for society. /

  37. 37. 38 6 97 , 8 14302 5 8 5 The numbers are different from the last chart of magazines because I eliminate comic books from the magazine in this chart and added them to the book (90% comic books are distributed as 'magazines' because of contractual benefits and other reasons. As a result, statistics from Publishing Science Institute counts those 90% comic books in magazine, which general public would feel strange). Source: Publishing Science Institute and Impress
