Give you information to help you such that Sailors can make the choice to STAY NAVY and help get Sailors get the most money they can (Not necessarily the Max amount). If procedures are not followed, Sailors WILL lose money. If you try and always maximize the SRB, they may end up with nothing. Purpose of SRB is to give Sailors and incentive to reenlist. It is an Incentive/Bonus not an entitlement. Should not be the only reason to reenlist. I am a Nuclear trained, they are no gray areas in procedures. Every question has been sent to N130 for evaluation. Every request should always be handled in the same manner. PERS8 has never denied a SRB. We have rejected thousands because Sailors did not meet requirements. My job is the same as the NC. Review for eligibility, reject and approve. Prior to approval, No changes to a request will be made by my office unless directed by the command.
Why do level change or go away. The Navy is no longer willing to pay a Rate/NEC based on the community has met their goal of how many individuals they need to reenlist. The Rate/NEC is no longer considered critical as compared to other ratings. The money is better spent on a more critical rating. hj
