This is a short presentation to offer students an overview of the Internet and Web Technology module in the Limerick Institute of Technology during the winter semester of 2013. This slide deck was made by @topgold and it relates to the #LITiwt and #webtech hashtags. It’s important that web developers have to skills to touch and to control online presentations. For the record, I blog at www.insideview.ie, talk at audioboo.fm/topgold and share videos at youtube.com/topgold including several made with Camtasia Studio.
I have worked on the web since HTML 2.0.
Through action agencies like Enable Ireland and the visually impaired community on Audioboo, we can enhance the accessibility of our learning materials.
We have moved from static websites to responsive web content.
You must make time to find and reflect on current best practise.
Along the way, you may discover your company’s infrastructure is cloud-dependent. For example, you might have to live within Facebook’s News Feed and that will change your perspective on protocols and internet standards.
Students often have smartphones to complement their traditional journals.
#LOCC is worth your time.
This is a long-running Limerick networking event that attracts local web developers.
We need to tap into the existing internet infrastructure and Twitter is part of it.
This comes from Statcounter.
Stats can tell you whether your work is relevant.
You should learn to keep a record of your web editing.
That’s @Documentally with @MyDolans in Limerick.
Keep notes. And keep screengrabs.
Flickr is a good place to store best work.
G+ offers very controlled private conversations.
I share with collaborators via Wunderlist.

Being discoverable enhances your online credibility.
My work lands at http://audioboo.fm/topgold.
I’m very findable. I blog and talk about education, technology and being a dad to a very creative couple of kids.
