2014: THE BEGINNING OF THE END
OF EREADERS?
• February 3: Adobe announces forthcoming upgrade to their
DRM which is not backwards compatible. As a result, older, non-
upgradeable eReaders will not be able to read new content
using the new DRM.
• February 20: Barnes & Noble announces their discontinuing the
Nook Simple Touch and Nook SimpleTouch with Glowlight. This
leaves only the tablet versions (Nook HD & HD+).
• March 20: Sony closes their Reader Store. Transfers all customers
to Kobo
