group of thoughtful,
committed people can
change the world;
indeed it is the only
thing that ever has

enormous change and
challenge, comes
enormous opportunity.

Main points: 1. NIAA is a very broad-based organization of industry, regulatory and supply members 2. NIAA is NOT a lobbying organization which helps it to be a very interactive forum
Main points:In 2011, NIAA took on the hard job of developing a national symposium on the use of antibiotics in food animals.There have been divergent opinions across, and within species regarding antibiotic use.The NIAA symposium brought together all food species, scientists, producers, and communicators to begin a dialogue for the common purpose of protecting animal health, human health, and the sustainability of livestock production.
Main points:13 leading scientists and researchers presented a wealth of information during the two-day symposium.175 leaders in animal production, animal health, human health, and the media participated in the two-day symposium.A White Paper was published as a result o the symposium and is available at www.animalagriculture.org.
Partnerships are scary and they require persistent time and attention in order to build relationships and trust.
The greatest power is to “change the game”; turning adversaries into partners; shift from intractable issue to new perspectives and options
