This document outlines the aims of the Beyond Partnership Conference on June 25th 2009 focused on developing high quality science teachers. The conference aimed to increase trainee science teacher placements by supporting schools offering paired placements and developing training packages for managing multiple placements and mentors. It also aimed to produce exemplars of teaching standards to support mentors and trainees and improve mentor quality through continuing professional development materials.

science e.g. by supporting schools offering
paired placements.
To develop a training package linked to
developing and managing multiple trainee

Paired Placement materials
8. Improving the quality of mentoring
A series of CPD materials produced to
support the training of host teachers and
developing existing mentors
Materials based around ‘Doing ITT’
materials previously published by TDA.
CPD materials trialled and then
disseminated to outreach schools through
training events
9. Evidencing the Standards
Science mentors worked collaboratively to
draw up a list of exemplifications for each
standard
The exemplifications were trialled by
mentors
Final draft used to publish a guide for use
by mentors
