Title: Results and Risk factors of thyroid
cancer

2. Results and discussion
 Distribution of data on the base of different variables
 Case-control study was based on 160 cases and 160 controls.
 Study contains 88 male patients and 232 female patients.
 88 patients belong to rural areas and 232 belong to urban
areas.
 67 patients belong to age 15-35, and 63 belong to age 36-55.

 30 belong to the age more than 56.
 87 were illiterate and 67 controls were literate, shows its
among illiterate people.
 58 cases belong to group of living sedentary life.
 83 cases have a family history of thyroid cancer.
 77 patients don’t have family history.
 82 cases used iodine diet and suffered from thyroid cancer,
while 78 controls did not intake iodine diet.

 90 cases have the history of acromegaly disease.
 Surprisingly 98 patients had oxidative stress
 108 cases intake fats.
 of fast food are 91.
 of fried food are 108 patients.

5. Analytical analysis of result
 Binary logistic regression model
 Regression coefficients
 Odds ratio (for the significance of variables)
 P-value and CI (confidence interval)
 Adequacy of data ( omnibus test) and chi Square test.
 Hosmer and Lemeshow (for goodness of fit)
 75% data is adequate and 25% is misclassified.

6. Significant risk factors
 Family history of cancer (1.2 times)
 Use of iodine diet (2.6 times)
 Oxidative stress highest risk factor (6 times)
 Intake of read meat, fast food, fried food and fats intake (2.3
times)
 Sea food (2.3 times)
