NSSO provides estimation of unemployment rate
Unemployment is measured in economic survey,
census ,by employment exchange etc

unemployment

MEASUREMENT OF UNEMPLOYMENT
CLAIMANT COUNT:
This method, basically takes account of the number
of heads unemployed and receiving unemployment
benefits
This method has some limitations that many people
do not register in exchanges so it do not give real
status of unemployed

Labor Force Survey:
The Labor Force Survey is done by taking household
samples.
The greatest advantage of this computational method is
that they meet international standards and it can be used
reliably
All individuals in the workable age are asked about
their employment status and the relevant data is taken
Well equipped statistical infrastructure is used for a more
accurate collection of data and its estimation

in Industrial and other major sector.
Unemployment rates for woman are higher than
those for men.
Percentage of Unemployment in urban areas is much
higher than in rural areas.

11. CONTROL OVER UNEMPLOYMENT
Vocational education should be given more importance.
More labour intensive industries should be set up to
create more jobs.
Measures should be taken to reduce seasonal
unemployment.
Activities allied to agriculture should be developed which
would provide additional employment to the agricultural
labour force through out the year.
