TCEA & PBS TeacherLine of TX partnered with Valerie Hill, a librarian and doctoral candidate at Texas Woman's University, to build educational environments and host events in Second Life. Over several years, they constructed replicas of historical sites like the Alamo and Globe Theatre on virtual islands to provide immersive learning experiences. They also used Second Life for conferences, workshops, book discussions, and to present research, taking advantage of creative tools and the fact that many educators were already active in the virtual world.
