Exercise And Lifestyle Reduce Heart Attack
Risk
The hectic pace of city life and the rapidly
changing lifestyles are adding up to cause
an alarming increase in the incidence of
heart attack among the upwardly mobile
youth in the city. Although presently this
number is fairly small, there has been a
rise in the occurrence levels. Earlier heart

Attacks were not common among youth in
the age group of 30 to 45 years.
Risk factors in heart attacks:
One of the primary reasons for the rise in
incidence of heart attack is because
people here are genetically more
vulnerable to heart ailments than the rest
of the world. Another significant reason
which contributes to increased risk of
heart
7. continued
attacks among the youth is the unhealthy
lifestyles. There has been a change in
food habits, increase in stress levels,
drastically changed living patterns with
sedentary habits and erratic sleep. All this
clubbed with a predisposition to heart
attacks can further increase the risk.
Other equally contributory factors to heart
attack risk are smoking, obesity, diabetes,

hypertension, and of course, a family
history.
Early warning signs:
The onset of heart attack can be detected
with a few visible warning signs like chest
discomfort while walking, and/or shortness
of breath etc. But it is important to note
that many heart-attacks can be silent
without any symptoms or forewarnings

Prevention:
Although people who are genetically
predisposed to heart attacks can not
actually reverse the risk, they can make
amends by trying to lead a sensible life
style by making a few modifications in
their food and exercise habits. One of the
most important preventive measures is to
stop smoking. Since work related stress is
10. continued
common among the youth today, it is
another vital reason to trigger heart
attacks. Youth should learn to de-stress
and relax more often.
Unhealthy food habits and a sedentary life
style can lead to obesity and a chain of
other problems. Working out or adopting a
disciplined exercise regimen can help in
keeping weight in check. Brisk walking is

another very good option. Everybody
should follow a regular health screening to
rule out diabetes and hypertension, and
do a stress test, undergo a lipid profile test
and check their body mass index
regularly.

18. EXAMPLE
Nanotechnology is the science of the
miniature, as the ad says, the science
that can create a mobile for an ant!
Nano-materials are a thousand times
smaller than the diameter of a human
hair and can be applied to almost every
field, from medicine to cosmetics. ‘Nano’
in Greek Means ‘dwarfs’ and when any
material is reduced to a nano dimension,
there are drastic changes in its physical,
19. Magnetic, optical, mechanical and electrical
Properties. It is for this reason that this cutting
Edge technology can be used in aerospace,
Engineering, bioscience, medical science,
Environment, electronics, security and a variety
of other fields.
The scope and application of nanotechnology
is so immense that it is estimated that there
Will be no sector of industry that will not use
Nanotechnology in future. In countries like the
U.S. and Japan, it is already being used in
Household products such as golf balls,
Mattresses, skin care creams and sprays.
20. Nano is expected to revolutionize every
area, from medicine to space, to various
industrial and technological fields. In the
area of health, it can create sensors in
the form of biochips to be inserted in the
human body targeting a drug to a single
malignant cell. It can also make tiny
medical devices and sensors with
fantastic precision to reach areas where
the surgeons` hand cannot, and repair
damaged and diseased tissues.
It can help scientists work on atoms at a
21. Finer level, helping us get more advanced
products. Nanobots can be made from
carbon nanotubes to carry out functions
like human beings. Nanotechnoloy has
the power to convert sunlight into energy
providing unlimited energy source.
Moreover, as nanomaterials are light,
strong and transparent, they can be used
for a variety of products. Nanocoatings
can be applied to different fabrics to make
them scratch-resistant and dirt repellent.
It also has the potential to produce
garment
22. Which can block chemical and biological
weapons from touching the skin of a
person. This technology is also used by
security agencies to help detect narcotics
and fingerprints of suspects in crimes.
