out by the Tamil emperor Arulmozhivarman, popularly called Rajaraja
Chola I,in 1002 CE , as the first of the great Tamil Chola building
projects. The temple was built by Rajaraja Chola, one of the greatest
Tamil emperors to grace the throne of the Chola empire
17. Brahma Temple, Rajasthan.
The temple is believed to be
2000 years old. It has a
distinct red pinnacle
(shikhara) and a hamsa bird
motif. The temple sanctum
sanctorum holds the central
images of Brahma and his
second consort Gayatri.
18. Baijnath Temple, Himachal Pradesh. It is famous for its 13th century temple
dedicated to Siva as Vaidyanath, ‘the Lord of physicians’.

over a period of 900 years, from the 11th century onwards.
20. he Harihareshwara Temple at Harihar in Karnataka state was built in c. 1223–
1224 CE by Polalva, a commander and minister of the Hoysala Empire King Vira
Narasimha II.
21. Omkareshwar is a Hindu temple in
the Khandwa district of Madhya
Pradesh state in India. It is on an
island called Mandhata or Shivapuri
in the Narmada river. It is one of the
12 rivered Jyotirlinga shrines of
Shiva.
