What makes you feel that way? Did you know that is offensive? If nothing else a conversation is started and the individual may begin to think more concretely about the things they say and do and how it effects others

Here students are encouraged to think about ‘what they bring to the table’. On a piece of paper, students will be asked to reflect, “when I look in the mirror what do I see”. These can be both negative and positive things and students are not required to share.
This exercise points out the concept of diversity of perspectives and ideology. The point should be stressed that we believe what we believe, make the decisions we make, and value certain things because of the perception we have of the world as a result of the experiences we’ve had up to this point in life.
