       How to be Happy
• This Slide Show goes over a 5 day drill on How to be Happy
• It also gives a short explanation for Understanding the Drill
• It is a 5 Day Drill – This How to be Happy Drill was Created by Author and
  PHD Richard Wiseman and is pulled out of the book 59 Seconds

How to be Happy -Introduction
A lot of people have a belief that happiness is about having more, this
is the root of the problem in a lot of cultures, especially here in the
United States.
Happiness really is highly related to two areas:
1. Be Thankful - Being Gracious for everything you have and being
     optimistic about future events rather than worried about Negative
     events.
2. Sense of Community - Forging good honest relationships with
     people who are good for you. Be Careful who you include in your
     life.
How to be Happy – The Drill
As Discussed a big part of “How to be Happy” is based on being gracious for
what you have. This is a 5 day drill that will help you begin to be gracious for
everything you have.
The Drill:
1. Each day for the next 5 days come back and complete each Day’s Drill
2. Read your answers every day to remember what you are happy about

Note: Repeat the Drill as necessary some people will repeat every 3 months.
How to be Happy – Day 1
It doesn’t matter what you are thankful for whether that is seeing a
friend, eating a meal, having your kids, whatever it is I want you guys to
figure out what you are thankful for.

Action: Write down 3 things that you are thankful about over the last
week
How to be Happy – Day 2
This How to be Happy is going to take some thought, I want you to
think back to an amazing experience you had. Feeling in Love, your kid
being born, seeing your Nephew for the first time (Just became an
uncle myself). If you want to know How to be Happy you better be able
to hold on to those wonderful moments

Action: Hold on to that moment for a second and experience it again.
Remember how it felt when that amazing experience occurred.
Now write down a Description of that amazing experience and how
great it felt when you experienced it.
How to be Happy – Day 3
Think into the future, think about how you want your future to be.
Imagine How to be Happy, what things have gone right? What have you
accomplished? Remember it takes hard work to achieve your goals, if
not everyone would have achieved them.

Action: Write down your future and what it will be like as you
accomplish your goals. Write down a description of what it will be like.
If you want to know How to be Happy you’ll have to see a bright future
for yourself.
How to be Happy – Day 4
How to be Happy is simple but most people miss the basis of it.
Think about someone special in your life, now this could be a family member
friend, teacher, your spouse, whoever, think about how much they mean to
you. How big of an impact they have made on your life, how much you care
about them.

Action: In order to understand the value they hold in your life write a short
letter to this person. Describe how much they mean to you, how much you
care about them, and how they have impacted your life.

Note: Remember a big part of How to be Happy is the relationships you
have.
How to be Happy – Day 5
Think back over the last 7 days, and think of 3 things that went
incredibly well. It doesn’t matter whether it was a Parking spot, a new
job, or just a new opportunity. Think about why those things were
positive. How to be Happy is about focusing on the positive!

Action: Write down 3 things that were good that happened and a brief
one sentence description of why they went well.
How to be Happy – Richard Wiseman
This drill on How to be Happy was designed by Richard Wiseman who
has written Some great books among them are:
• 59 Seconds: Think a Little, Change a Lot
• Quirkology
• The As If Principle
I highly recommend reading some of his books, if you are interested in
Self Help, 59 Seconds is a phenomenal book.
