share responses to the following questions:
• What is culture?
• What does it mean to be an American? Canadian? Colombian? Australian?

After a class brainstorm and discussion, have your students express their thoughts
in one of the following ways:
• Create Wordle word clouds using words and phrases that they feel
describe culture.
• Create collages of images and words from magazines and newspapers that they
feel describe and represent culture.
• Draw a colorful posters that represent their interpretations of culture.
4. Bring the world to your classroom by inviting in special guests from other countries (whether in
person or via technology) to read stories, share cultural experiences or give presentations about
where they are from, places they have lived or places where they have traveled.

place with you and your students. Get online, allow your tech-savvy
students to hone their skills and share their learning with the rest of
your school, their parents, your local community and the world!

taste dishes from around the world.
• Announce the date and time by sending an online invitation or email

invitation options!
• Ask staff members to bring foods from their home countries, foods
that are traditional for their families, or their favorite ethnic dish.
