Almighty God,
creator of heaven and earth
in whom all things are possible,
have mercy on us and heal us,
that sustained by the power of your word
and by the constant intercession
of our Lord and Savior,
we may draw near to you
and follow in your way as faithful disciples.

“Arrange it,” they said, “so that
we will be awarded the highest
places of honor in your glory—
one of us at your right,
the other at your left.”

Jesus’ messianic journey to
Jerusalem into a march for
glory...
When Jesus ‘sits in his glory,’
(however) with one at his right
and another at his left,
it will be on the cross.”

14. Jesus said, “You have no idea
what you’re asking. Are you
capable of drinking the cup I
drink, of being
baptized in the baptism I’m
about
to be plunged into?” “Sure,” they
said. “Why not?” Jesus said,
“Come to think of it, you will
drink the cup I drink,
and be baptized in my baptism.

down. “You’ve observed how
godless rulers throw their weight
around,”

27. Philippians 2
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit,
but in humility regard others as better than yourselves.
Let each of you look not to your own interests, but to the
interests of others. Let the same mind be in you that was
in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God,
did not regard equality with God as something to be
exploited, but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave…
and became obedient to the point of death—
even death on a cross.
