New Vendor On-boarding
A large manufacturer with 750 vendors needed a streamlined
proces to onboard new vendors. The on-boarding meant setting
up a profile in the ERP system, establishing EDI connection,
integration with Compliance and Finance departments and
more. The process for collecting information, reviewing, and
approving across various groups was taking 900 hours on
average. Visionet designed a streamlined, coherent and linearly
architected solution using Microsoft solution suite to reduce the
on-boarding effort and improve compliance.
The information was submitted by the new business partner
through the SharePoint portal. SharePoint seamlessly interacts
with Outlook and other Microsoft Office offerings. This solution
streamlined submission, version control and storage of vendor
artifacts. Once the information was approved the vendor profile
was automatically setup in the ERP, Financial and Compliance
systems using prebuilt adapters. The EDI connection was
established with the vendor through BizTalk. BizTalk became
the hub for all transactions and SharePoint became the “face” to
the elaborate infrastructure behind it. The customer IT could
monitor, investigate and fix the transactions through the
SharePoint portal. The on-boarding time was cut in half.
