10. 2 of 13 Signs of a LEADER DISCIPLINE Discipline is the BRIDGE between Goals and Accomplishments Leaders are disciplined individuals. They exemplify focus and commitment. They walk the talk.
11. 3 of 13 Signs of a LEADER EMOTIONAL STRENGTH He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and He who rules his spirit, than he who captures a city. Leaders anticipate challenges and are not derailed by obstacles. They are not easily shaken, remain strong when things get tough.

Leaders carefully and consciously accumulate experience – observing others and themselves. Develop the ability to differentiate between activity and accomplishment, between efficiency and effectiveness.

Leaders know when to speed up and when to slow down, if necessary. When to strike and when to retreat. With a great strategy, they develop great followers.

30. Dont’s ( X ) 1. Don’t sacrifice quality for quantity of production. 2. Don’t criticise your sub-ordinate in front of others. Do so, if necessary, separately. 3. Don’t shout at your sub-ordinates; don’t use abusive language. LEADERSHIP AND MAN MANAGEMENT SKILLS
31. 4. Don’t become so intimate and friendly with your sub-ordinate that you can’t exercise your authority when needed. 5. Don’t take credit for the sub-ordinate’s work or achievements. Give due credit to him. 6. Don’t depend on or refer to HRD/Personnel Department for all human-related problems. Think you are the HRD/Personnel person in your department.
32. 7. Don’t get carried away by mischievous elements who complain on others. Take decisions based on facts and data. 8. Don’t kill ideas of your sub-ordinates; don’t discourage or ridicule their suggestions. (Avoid ‘Do it as I say’ attitude). 9. Don’t disturb the work priorities of your sub- ordinates as much as possible.
33. 10. Don’t be aggressive or submissive; be assertive. 11. Don’t keep grudges and settle scores with your sub-ordinates. (‘I’ll teach him a lesson’ attitude). 12. Don’t say that every job is urgent; your ‘urgency’ loses its value.

35. 16. Don’t kiss the top (being a ‘yes boss’ to your supervisors) and kick the bottom (shouting and being rude to your sub- ordinates). 17. Don’t compare one sub-ordinate with the other. In case you have to, do so tactfully. 18. Don’t be egoistic.
36. 19. Don’t demand respect; but command respect. 20. Don’t always use your positional power (power and authority given to you by your organisation); use personal power (based on your job knowledge, skills and good human relations).
