5. 1.Middle Child Syndrome
Middle child syndrome is an
emotional condition. The first
child is normally the favorite and
the youngest is spoiled. Middle
Children often feels neglected and
forgotten. Being the middle child
in my family has definitely made a
negative impact on my life when I
was growing up. It caused me to
have low self esteem which caused
me to not be able to socialize
correctly with my peers in school.

6. 2. This is just another sad song
We all have moments in our
lives that are the hardest.
Sometimes we think we are
never going to get through
them. This song is about
those times I’ve had in my
life. Almost every first album
an artist has a “sad song”
put on the album. This is
mine. It talks about things
that I’ve seen as a kid. From
our parents fighting and
separating to my siblings
and I being put in a tug of
war between our parents.

7. 3. Hail Mary
This song has to do with the
religion part of culture and
society. My religion is
Catholic. My family and I
attended Church almost
every Sunday, said Grace
before eating our meals and
our prayers before bedtime.
When I was 6 I started
attending CCD classes and
had my first communion in
the second grade. God is
who I was taught to worship
and he is all I know. There
was a time when I thought
everyone else did also before
I learned through society
there is more than one
religion.

8. 4. Minority Report
Although race is not as
big of a deal as it used
to be, being an African
American also helped
shape me through
culture and society. It
taught me that it wasn’t
me that was different it
was jus that everyone
wasn’t created the
same. I embrace my
culture and I wouldn’t
trade it for the world.

9. 5. “Be Somebody”
All my life my parents have
always told me “Vanessa to
make it in this world you have to
be somebody.” This is
something I heard on a regular
basis from them when I brought
home failing grades throughout
middle school. Now that I’m
older and I’m starting to see
their struggle, I realized that in
order to be successful I have to
do go good in school, have a
good career so I can “Be
Somebody”.

10. 6. Population- 1
This is the most personal
song on the album which is
the reason why I used the
cover of the CD as the
background for this song.
Although I'm growing up and
learning more about myself
and other people, for a very
long time I’ve felt alone. I've
gone through a deep phase
of depression as a young
adult and although I learned
to cope with many things,
these experiences have
changed me.

11. 7. From Her to ME
I can honestly say that
the person I am today is
completely different from
the person I used to be.
Even though I’m only 19
years old, I’ve been
through a lot and I’ve
seen a lot. From “HER”,
a shy, timid, naïve girl
that knew nothing about
what was going on in this
big world, to “ME” an
outspoken, open-
minded, smart college
student who has a lot to
offer in this world and a
plan to be successful.

12. Thank You
First and Foremost I want to start off by thanking
Jesus Christ, my Savior. Without him none of this
would be possible for me. I want to thank my mom
and dad for putting me on this earth and teaching me
the values of life. Because of you I know how to
appreciate what I have and to be thankful because
nothing last forever. My manager who has also
taught me many things about this industry and who
has steered my career into the right direction. My
friends and family who have stuck by me from
beginning to end when most people doubted me.
Thank you so much and I love you. Last but NOT
least I want to thank my fans!!! I appreciate each and
everyone of you! My music lives through you. I love
