- 21. Life or death? Sometimes it comes down to knowing your numbers! September 2006: Six premature babies were given an overdose of Heparin at an Indiana Hospital. The preemies were administered a 10,000 unit dose instead of 10 units. Two of the six babies died within hours, one was transferred to another hospital and died two days later, three survived the overdose.
- 22. November 2007: The twins born to Hollywood actor, Dennis Quaid, and his wife Kimberly were given an overdose of Heparin at Cedar-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. At only 12 days old, the twins were administered a 1,000 unit dose instead of the 10 units prescribed. “Fighting for life.”
- 23. July 2008: A dozen premature babies were overdosed with Heparin at a Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas. Two of the babies died in that instance.
